I read not too long ago that beef tallow is an excellent moisturizer and, because it has properties that resemble your own skin's sebum, that it can repair and protect your skin as well. That being said, keep in mind that my review will be based on the purpose for which i bought this product (although I've also started eating it! :) I was a little reluctant to buy this because some of the reviews said that it had a very strong pungent odor. I did not find this to be the case. It definitely has a faint scent, but its no unpleasant or overpowering. It actually reminded me a little bit like shea butter, which some people also find unpleasant. It moisturizes beautifully! I'm not sure that it is any better than other fats and oils i've used before, namely coconut, argan and rosehip oil as well as shea butter. So i can't speak as to whether or not it will improve my skin, but I like it so far. I also find the taste to be much milder than I would have expected based on some of the reviews. I tasted it the first day I got it, and I've been putting some in my bone broth as well. I can't say that I taste a difference. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, since this is my first experience with tallow, however, for my purposes that works just fine! Finally, it arrived well packaged and in a timely fashion! I also find the cost to be very reasonable considering that this comes from grass fed animals and it is a rather large container. I ultimately decided to go with this one because skin care products made from tallow were much more expensive for a lot less. This has met all my expectations, now lets see if my skin improves! :) Review: This products is really useful tolerated high temperature cooking. All ruminants like cows apparently have bacteria in their rumens (a part of their digestive tract) that naturally produce trans fats at a low percentage. The nature of that trans fat is chemically different from the trans fat found in partially hydrogenated soybean oil. Eating ruminant-produced trans fat was not seen to increase risk of coronary heart attack, while the trans fat produced from vegetable oil has been seen to increase heart attacks. Realize that in the U.S. any product having less than 0.5 g trans fat can put "0" on the label. I bought this product and another, just to test. I made two batches, one per brand of tallow. I prefer this Fatworks Beef Tallow over the other for appearance, consistency and most of all, flavor. Good stuff! **Q: What does a very long shelf life mean? That could mean anything from 6 months to 25 years the latter is what I consider long.** A: I purchased some in 2015 and only just used it this weekend. It was still good, beautiful creamy color and no odor.
