How many servings per tin?

Depends on how big the spoon is, whether it's a flat or heaped serving. Seriously, what kind of question is this?!

Is it packed in plastic

The ones i have received are metal tins, with a metal peel off lid beneath the replaceable plastic cap (red as in the picture). The 6 tins have always come in an illy cardboard box - the sort of box that the top separates so a shop can put the product on the shelf.

Does it have a long use by date please?

I have a boxes here, with me which are up to 2021 Fe.b. I purchased them> some amount, 4 months ago. Probably the validity is18 or 24 months . This is long enough. And I will use it long before the expire data. So will order respectively the next batch in time. In addition> the can is so well closed, so I will not be surprised > it can be stored 2-3 years without degradation of the quality. Obviously if you are not lucky, you can get damaged can, but so far, for years I am getting the proper stuff. It is not a big deal- you know how much you consume- so plan your deliveries respectively. If Amazon are clever they can organize deliveries with some time schedule . They have this for some other things.

Does this have to be used in some kind of coffee machine?

This is an instant coffee . You boil water or milk add coffee and drink.
