Will these work with Tinker Toys?

doubt it. K'nex straight pieces are thicker. so I doubt it. That said, I don't put anything past kids; they take 'no' as a challenge. And that's not a bad thing.

Will these snap into the regular knex too?

Kid K'NEX parts make the same kinds of snapping connections made with regular (standard and micro) K'NEX so younger children can learn about making those kinds of connections; however, the parts are not compatible with regular K'NEX parts.

why was the box I purchased full of tinker toys instead of kid knex pieces? My little boy was so upset

Would a 2.5 year old who loves building do okay with these?
