In this, the second of the Tintin books, the young reporter travels to Africa, unearthing a criminal diamond smuggling operation run by the American gangster Al Capone (who he will meet again in Tintin in America). Tintin au Congo was first published in book form in French in 1931. This translation by Leslie Lonsdale-Cooper and Michael Turner, the original Tintin translators, includes a fascinating foreword describing the publication history of Tintin's African adventure and placing it in its historical context. In his portrayal of the Belgian Congo, the young Hergé reflects the colonial attitudes of the time.. he depicted the African people according to the bourgeois, paternalistic stereotypes of the period - an interpretation that some of today's readers may find offensive. Collector's edition
It's almost a dream come true. This particular book is not easily available due to it's controversial content. Got this luckily during the Great Indian Sale. I've got 2016 edition printed in Romania.

Rekommenderas starkt!

Simple Storyline
The storyline was somehow simple and at some points unbelievable compared to the later series.

Good quality overall.
The corners of the cover is slightly dented, other parts are in good shape.

A classic, like it or not.
Beautiful colour reprint true to the original. The original story, printed 95 years ago, may be offensive to “modern audiences” but it is a great story and perspective into 1930’s zeitgeist. A must have for fans, nothing to cry about. Thanks to the publisher and distributor on a great job. Note: the red banner shown on the cover is just a strip of paper, it’s not printed on the cover.
