There is a wealth of knowledge compiled in here found nowhere else. I have a much better understanding about what acne is, what aggravates it and what specific ingredients do for acne. Throughout my twenties, I have tried everything to get my acne under control. From reading this book, I now understand what ingredients like Benzoyl Peroxide and topical vitamin A actually do and how they work. In retrospect, I had given up too soon on some of my treatments. Also, I learned that for me, a treatment plan including a combination of benzoyl peroxide, AHAs & topical vitamin A is most effective. Two more big take-aways for me: watch out for food and vits high in iodine, and 100 mg of zinc daily will help with acne inflammation. I just completed an esthetics program where we learned very little about this subject. This is an absolute MUST READ for any skin care professional. Thank you, Dr. Fulton! One thing, the copyright on this book is 2001. I know there have been many advances in laser treatments, and would love to see an updated version of the book. Review: I really loved this book - I really loved this book. I ordered and read it before ordering any of the Vivant product line and I'm so pleased I did. Suprisingly, I learned about Dr. Fulton whilst reading about charcoal soap reviews online! A lady's review stated that she followed the James Fulton skincare plan and it piqued my curiosity enough to look him up. I found this book along with his skincare website and ordered it right away. One of the reasons I give this book credence is because Dr. Fulton lived through the acne nightmare for his entire youth and that struggle fueled his research. I always knew that I would probably have acne forever, but Dr. Fulton spelled it out word for word - what I have is a disease. Once you understand this and HOW to fix it, it takes so much stress off your plate. After reading the book, I purchased a Vivant skincare kit and 2 weeks later my skin has seen MAJOR improvement. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that these will be my products from now on, but after the trial and error of so many others I'm haven't committed completely. Let's just say if this keeps up, I can finally be happy with my skin instead of stressing to death about leaving the house or looking in mirrors. There are so many people who struggle with this condition, and finally, here are some real answers. This is an especially recommended book for anyone in the skin care field who wants to better treat their clients or patients. Sadly, so many doctors/dermatologists are missing the mark and acne sufferers are falling through the cracks left by their incompetence. For those with a serious interest in causes and treatment, this book sheds some light.
