I was at a friend's place a couple months ago and I spotted Hildegard on a shelf of games I consider to be literally some of the best board games ever made (Sleeping Gods, Earthborn Rangers -- you know, oops all bangers); It's not hard to pick out visually -- it doesn't call attention to itself with bright colors or big text, just a drawing of a girl, halfway between Frazetta at his most respectful and Watterson or Walt Kelly at their most hardcore. The art was so striking that I had to ask about it. "Oh, Spire's End? That's actually the second full game, they're already making a third. I played that for MONTHS when it came out." I asked her if I could borrow it. She looked pained. "It's ... it was hard to find. I don't want to risk losing it. The story is important to me. But I know where you can get a copy!" So here I am, several sessions into one of the most unique, narratively complex campaigns I've ever played, and ALL the art is as beautiful or moreso than the box art. It's also a winding, playful riff on Choose Your Own Adventure, with a huge assortment of different paths and decision points, and it's always exciting. And honestly, the only reason I'll probably put this away for a while is because the original Spire's End is being reprinted, and the second standalone game, Rangitaki, came out not long ago, and they both look just as incredible. For the money you'd spend on any of these sets, think of it this way -- you're getting a game, a comic book, a novel, and a CYOA/DOS-style text adventure all in one package. It's easily worth the price.

This is fun! Have played multiple times now, and still haven’t gotten into the 4th deck story! Thinking about grabbing a few expansion packs!

I am primarily a solo gamer, so this stood out to me obviously. Retired now, kids off with their families and wife enjoys her games on her Amazon Kindle. I purchased this because I'm a card lover. I have a dozen decks of regular playing cards and kids know they go wrong there. Anywho, Spire's End Huldegard is great! Tough to win, I'm finding, but always fun. One game I made it to Chapter 4 of 4 then lost. Next game, got through about 10 cards and lost again! Currently I have made it to Chap. 4 again and things look good (knock on wood). If you enjoy cards (408 story cards, divided into four Chapters), solo play and a good narrative, with a good amount of dice rolling, go for it. I have the Great Outdoors expansion and have added them. Mine arrived on time, good condition and the quality of everything is outstanding.

Fantastic game... and great art on the cards. This is not a game to play everyday. But it does add a ton of replay value.

The game is absolutely beautiful. Great art, high quality components and very engaging writing. The game arrived with one card missing , the creator responded to my request within 10 minutes and sent the card immediately.
