Copper braid is thinner than original brushes on the 24 volt Black & Decker CMM1000
The copper braid on these brushes is a lot thinner than the braid of the original brushes on the 5 horsepower 24 volt Black & Decker CMM1000. They fit, but they might be better suited for a higher voltage mower (ie 36 or 48 volt), since the current is lower on higher voltage motors. Would rate them 5 stars for value. If soldering them to the old partially corroded wires, be sure to use flux and a high heat iron since the power wires on the 24 volt CMM1000 are very thick. Before you re-install the brushes, be sure to also clean all the commutator contacts on the armature, or you may have a large power loss (as I learned the hard way). It is easier to clean the contacts with the brushes out. I used a rag with isopropyl alcohol, then sanded them with 1000 grit (ie very very fine) sandpaper, then more wiping with isopropyl alcohol. Once I cleaned the contacts, replaced the brushes, and fully charged the batteries, the mower seemed to have most of its original power. Not bad for a 15 year old mower on its second set of batteries. By the way, I love the Black and Decker cordless mowers - they have been very dependable.

Basic anf functional
Fits perfectly - original had a non-removable clasp to feed wire - so cut original braid wire to brush with short lead & soldered to new brush braid. an appropriate clasp would work as well. Full power after install.

Black & Decker MM525
These are a direct replacement for the brushes in my 30-some odd year old Black & Decker MM525 electric mower. I heard a faint clicking from the mower motor so thinking the brushes were worn down, I ordered this set. Opened it up and the brushes were barely worn but one had a tiny chip in the corner of the contact area. That is what was making the clicking sound...but not causing any damage. Seeing that these needed to be cut/crimped or de/re-soldered, I put the cap back on and decided to do a full overhaul/cleaning as a winter project and go ahead and replace the brushes at that time. This mower is a beast. I've been abusing it for 30 years. Just keep it clean, replace the fan when the blades break and it just won't quit. In a few years I will downsize and move somewhere that I won't need a mower. Will give it to my nephew and he will likely render it fubar within the year...sigh. (smile)

Solved issues with my B&D CMM1000 lawn mower
The price was quite reasonable but the free shipping was listed as 5-10 days. My Black and Decker mower had completely stopped working so that is a long time for the lawn to go wild. Fortunately, the brushes arrived in the shortest estimated time, 5 business days. My mower is well past its prime and and had been hard to get started and was not running with a consistent speed or power. The original brushes were worn down to the point of not making contact with the armature. These replacement brushes fit into the existing spring loaded holders perfectly. The wiring to the brushes was not designed to be replaced. I was able to cut the old braided connectors and friction fit the new wires in place. My mower now starts, runs, and stops well and seems to be rotating a lot faster. I have not mowed the entire yard yet but my short test runs went well.
