Grating nutmeg is now effortless!
My oh my! Is this easier than rubbing a little nutmeg nut against a grater! It is sleek and beautiful, too. You just turn it and it shaves nutmeg very, very finely into a little cup on the bottom - FAST! It used to take me about 20 minutes of grating to get what I can get from this little guy in about 2 minutes. I have only two minor issues. First, no instructions. It wasn't that hard to figure out, though. Second, I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, and although this is 100 times easier than grating a hard nutmeg against a micro plane greater, the pieces are still small for my fingers to handle. But still I highly recommend - it's a great deal.

Functional but could be easier to use
For the most part this does what it's advertised to do; but it's not perfect and you need to double check the fitting when closing it. Pro's: 1. It's small and doesn't take up a lot of space 2. It holds up to 3 nutmeg, one in the shaving chamber and 2 in storage for when that runs out 3. It does an adequate job of shaving the nutmeg 4. It's relatively easy to use once you get it to together and stable... but... Cons 1. It's not easy to ensure that it's locked in place to be together and stable. 2. If the lock isn't 100% engaged the spring load inside will launch itself apart and shoot the nutmeg across the room. 3. The body is metal, but the storage chamber on top feels like cheap plastic, and that's the part you twist to make it work. (twisting the body locks/unlocks it while the plastic chamber is the mill handle) 4. You won't get powder from this, only shavings 5. There are only 4 tines that hold the nutmeg in place to spin it into the cutting planes. If those tines dig a groove the handle will spin in the nutmeg groove without further cutting the nutmeg. Taking it apart to reposition can lead to the thing shooting itself apart since it's still under pressure. Overall it's not bad for the price; but it could have had a better locking mechanism. I feel like they sacrificed a secure latch for the sake of a sleek outside appearance, and instead opted for a twist and click that isn't always easy to tell if it's fully engaged. The handle you turn hasn't broken yet, but it feels flimsy compared to the body that your other hand will be holding while twisting, plus there's a cap on it that can come off; limiting how you can position your hand without spilling the storage compartment. I've had some issues with positioning of the nutmeg due to how few tines there are to hold it in place. Sideways instead of end up seems to be working best so far; but if the nutmeg breaks down too quickly around the tines you'll have to take it apart and reposition which is tricky as it can shoot everything in different directions when trying to re-open it. The spring inside is strong and the body is durable, it may last a long time; unless you drop it and shatter the cheap plastic handle/storage top. This thing could be perfect with just a few tweaks, but it's pretty good for the price.

Game changer.
This is my favorite thing in my kitchen arsenal now lol, freshly ground nutmeg is unmatched. It stores two in the lid, and can hold one in the grinder for immediate grinding use. All the closures are air tight, secure, and quality. I know all the nutmeg is kept fresh. I have most of the fun kitchen appliances, but I still swear this is my favorite now! It’s so fun to use!

This is the nutmeg mill to buy!
This is not our first nutmeg mill, which says something about the previous ones, but it may be our last, which speaks highly of Adhoc Muskatino Stainless Steel Nutmeg Mill we purchased. It is very easy to use and hold. The results are fantastic! There is nothing like the taste of freshly ground nutmeg. The mill is gorgeous and can be proudly set out for convenient use. Highly recommend!

Wonderful
This is easy to use, easy to clean. Fits in your hand nicely, super easy to load. Fine grind that you can leave the cap on the bottom to collect or grind directly into your cooking. Would recommend to anyone and would not hesitate to give as a gift.

Do not waste your money on this.
Great design, great look... doesn't work as should. When you put a fresh whole nutmeg into the mill... you get three or four turns of shaved nutmeg... then nothing. The surface of the nut gets shaved flat and smooth and them merely glides across the blade...you get nothing. When you pull the nutmeg out and reposition it, the spring that holds tension downward to keep the nut pressed against the blade doesn't have enough force the keep the nut positioned and it will roll around and end up back on the flat spot. Also the teeth on the end of the spring do not have enough "bite" to grab and hold the nut. Together, the teeth and weak spring means a mill that doesn't do the job. Wanted to love this... but finally admitted defeat... sadly after long passing the point I could get refunded for this garbage.

Not a grinder - it's a 'shaver'
UPDATE: After using this product for a short time, I have found the deal-breaker. The flawed design of this item [it's not a grinder, it's a slicer] wastes half the nutmeg. Once it is 'shaved' to a certain level, the spring is no longer 'pushing' the nut so that it engages & once the nut becomes smooth, it doesn't engage in the shaving blade. I have the Micro-plane grinder that is truly a grinder, and I wanted a separate one for my other fresh spices. If I still had the original packaging, I would return this grinder. But since I used my Prime points, I don't see the need, but will donate to the thrift store. So, my advice is if you're paying for this item...be aware that it is not a grinder, but a shaver. 1/23/2025 This would be a great product except for 2 issues: 1] if you don't hold it just right when turning the top portion of the 'grinder', it will pop open since the nutmeg is held in place by a spring loaded holder. This could be fixed by adding an additional thread or 2 since the slightest touch 'unscrews' the grinder & everything flies everywhere. Had I known this before buying, I would not have purchased it. 2] Grind vs Sliced - this issue isn't a deal breaker, but it would be nice to have an actual 'grinder', rather than the 'slicer' blade.....

Sleek and Effective but Easy to Accidentally Shoot Nutmegs Everywhere
Nutmeg is one of those spices that once grated go tasteless almost immediately, so I have always grated mine fresh. Getting out the grater, retrieving a nutmeg, grating it, and washing the grater always felt a bit of a chore, though, especially if used just as a garnish, so I started keeping my eye out for a nutmeg grater. I first saw the William Bounds and Peugeot versions, but they seemed inexplicably expensive and had middling reviews, not to mention that they were large and awkwardly shaped in a way that fits no one's spice drawer. This Adhoc version intrigued me in that it sliced instead of grated and was a nice slim shape. Sure enough, it shaves the nutmeg up into beautiful, feathery sprinklings with hardly a twist of the wrist: German engineering at its finest. However, in trying to be too clever, they made the movement that separates the spring-loaded nutmeg container the exact same as the movement to operate the mill. If you twist the top part, you get nutmeg shavings, but if you twist the bottom part, you get half the mill and a nutmeg ricocheting across the room. The number of times I have done this is distressing. I wish they'd put a lock on so that it required a teensy bit more intention and effort to open the nutmeg container.

Brilliant invention for disabled
I know not ALL disabled people are going to be able to use this grinder, but for me it’s much easier than trying to hold half, or less, of a nutmeg, & go up & down my old grinder/zester. Having arthritic hands I usually end up throwing away the nutmeg when it’s gets to half as it’s so difficult to hold, which is a waste. So if you have the same problem as me I suggest you buy this.

Nutmeg grinder
Very small container. Offers little room to store more than two to three whole nutmegs. Nice grinding action. Provides a consistent ground power.
