Whereas typical yeast will be typically low in melatonin, taking standard yeast is not the answer. The monoclonal yeast are designed to produce large amounts of melatonin, which is then extracted via a digestion in caustic, then liquid/liquid extracted. The chemical synthetic route to melatonin is costly and atypical of any product. Whereas I don't actually know the disposition of this particular product, it is unlikely synthetic. **Q: Why does the 10mg taste so bitter? The 5 mg has Avery pleasant flavor.** A: Agreed the 10mg taste pretty bad. Not only are they bitter, but they have menthol in them now? I could've sworn the 10mg didn't use to have it, but this bottle I just purchased does. The 5mg doesn't have it so I guess I'm just gonna stock up on those. I was shocked when I took them last night though, as it says no where on the front of the bottle that it's not the same strawberry as the 5mg. But it's listed in the ingredients. Won't be buying again. **Q: I've read that natural melatonin is normally harvested from animal glands. Is your product made with synthetic melatonin or the animal gland kind?** A: We use 100% synthetic melatonin for all of our melatonin products. You will find on the front of our label it will state "vegetarian" and have the carrot symbol printed above it.
