It could be just a little tighter to capture even the tiny debris, but for our application it does a good job. You can get the really small items, you just have to make several passes. The only other issue is the handle is just a tad on the wimpy side. I don't know why skimmer manufacturers can't make a middle of the road model that doesn't bow or bend when you run it through the water at a normal speed. Add a couple of dollars to the price and beef that puppy up a notch or two, people will pay for quality. The only other nice upgrade would be another foot to the handle length. You just about have to be in the water to use this one without bending over completely or reaching to the center or deeper, even in a small pool or hot tub. That would make a perfect hand skimmer to cover many applications, but this one gets the job done at a very reasonable cost.
