does the soft side get crushed inside a purse?

I'm a guy and don't carry a purse. But I carry this case in my cargo pants pocket with other stuff and it protects my glasses well. Thinking of my wife's purse which is usually packed, I'd think that unless there was something hard pressing against the back it would be okay.

No it does not have a belt clip

Is it hard to snap it closed without pressing on, potentially damaging, the glasses inside?

Not if the snap is properly aligned. The button face side is hard as is the surrounding side. Only the back side of the case is soft.

What are the dimensions?

The dimensions are on the Amazon website. I had to check myself to see if my glasses would fit. Love the case.
