Simply exquisite, and Rackham's illustrations are gorgeous!
My first Calla Edition was Tales of Mystery and Imagination by Edgar Allan Poe. It is a work of extraordinary beauty and I've been collecting the various titles issued by Calla Editions since. The quality of each Calla Edition is superior in terms of binding, paper quality, the illustrations, and content. These Calla Editions are a must-have in every collector's library and will bring great pleasure to bibliophiles. This 2010 Calla Edition of Grimm's Fairy Tales contains a selection of stories from The Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm, translated by Mrs. Edgar Lucas, and which was originally published by Doubleday, Page, and Co., New York, in 1909. There are 40 full-color plates by Arthur Rackham as well as 28 black-and-white illustrations. Each illustration is listed at the beginning of the book with page references. The stories contained within this collection are: The Golden Bird Jorinda and Joringel The Bremen Town Musicians The Straw, the Coal, and the Bean Briar Rose The Twelve Dancing Princesses The Fisherman and his Wife The Wren and the Bear The Frog Prince The Cat and Mouse in Partnership The Goosegirl The Adventures of Chanticleer and Partlet Rapunzel The Valiant Tailor Hansel and Grethel Red Riding Hood The Robber Bridegroom Tom Thumb Rumpelstiltskin Clever Grethel The Old Man and his Grandson Sweetheart Roland Snowdrop Ashenputtel The White Snake The Wolf and the Seven Kids The Queen Bee The Elves and the Shoemaker The Four Clever Brothers The Lady and the Lion The Golden Goose The Water of Life The King of the Golden Mountain Doctor Know-All The Seven Ravens The Youth who could not Shudder King Thrushbeard The book is printed on 100# Utopia II Ivory dull (the paper is heavy and feels like card stock), and bound in Pearl Linen. I enjoy reading and perusing all of my Calla Edition books. These are definitely heirloom quality books that can be treasured for generations to come.

Would recommend
The books has so many good old childhood stories. Im a 90s baby and I love old Grimm stories. I mainly got it for my kids but I ended up reading it for myself. Lol The stories vary.. some are short and some are decently long .. very very good book if you want to gradually start introduce your kids to some stories that are not disney censored.

Great Baby Gift
When I was a child, I really treasured my bound/illustrated copy of the Grimm's Fairy Tales. They are absolute classics for kids! When my friends all started getting pregnant, I was hard pressed to come up with a creative and interesting baby gift for all of them - I think I have found my go-to item for first-born children! There were several different publications offering these, but I chose this one because of the nice, yet antique-ish, look of the book and illustrations. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that there could have been a few more pictures or the book could have been offered in a leather- instead of canvas- binding. But the recipients really seemed to appreciate its beauty and were completely happy with it. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a nice children's gift, people who are excited to read to their children, anyone who enjoys German culture, and people who like hard-covered books.

Illustrations by Arthur Rackham
I collect fairy tale books of specific children's book illustrators including Arthur Rackham, who is one of my favorites. However, these collection books can be very difficult to figure out what is in them (stories, color plates) so I took a chance. As other reviewers helpfully noted, this book seems to have the full amount of illustrations that other books sometimes skimp on.

It's a beautiful book, the illustrations are fantastic. With all the recent movie's coming out about Fairy Tales I was telling my kids that many movie makers really changed many of the traditional tales from how they were written. Okay so then I had to prove it so I bought this book. I have so enjoyed reading it to a generation of children that get everything from TV. This book excites their imaginations once you can get them past the "but that's not what happened in the movie!" I'm so glad I got this book it brings back fond memories of cold winter nights and lazy summer days when all you wanted to do was laze around and read.

El tacto del papel es muy suave y calido. La portada es rigida y muy bonita. El problema es que vino un poco desgastado en las esquinas pero no es un gran problema.

I have the original 1909 version of this book, which my sister always loved for the photos , so I bought this one for her and wasn't disappointed, the pictures are still beautiful and she was over the moon with it
