I have sensitive skin and need closed.** A: Hi. This is a closed comb shaver. I also have sensitive skin. I'd recommend using it with pro silver blades. And another thing I do is I buy hydrogen peroxide in the brown bottle with a sprayer top and I spray the blade and razor head. What a difference it makes. It kills a lot of the bacteria that gets under your skin even from a brand new blade fresh out of the package. You'll appreciate this razor for the longer handle. It is well balanced and the Knurling on the handle not only looks great, but it helps you grip it as well. **Q: Is this Merkur model 23c?** A: It looks like it. On the product page, over to the right it should say "4 styles", with 4 models to select from. One of these is the MK-23c. Just make sure you select it before ordering. When you receive the actual razor, the packaging does not say "23c". Mine says "90 23 001". **Q: Can you please state what model this is. Highly recommended to all who shave. *by A***A on 11 October 2017* This has got to be the smoothest razor I have ever used in my life. And I am not exaggerating. It glides like butter even on my three day old stubble. And my beard is thicker and denser than most. It is perfectly balanced and feels great in your hands. There is no need to apply any pressure, just let the razor glide and do its work. Even during the tricky chin area, this razor was smooth and flawless. The long handle is definitely a plus for me as I have large hands and this is much closer to the multi-blade razors I have been using so the transition time for getting used to a safety razor is much easier. Most of my face did not need a second pass. Under the nose and lower lip were the only two areas I had to shave with a second pass for baby soft results. As with all Merkur products, this is German engineering at its best. The finish and workmanship are flawless and impeccable. I will never go back to multi-blade razors ever again. I don't know why I didn't try this sooner.
