I think they used a whole role of tape so it was hard to get into..but intact! LOL. After the unpacking struggle, there was no directions or assembly instructions. I YouTubed it and and it took about an hour to put together because not a the holes were big enough. The Welding job was pretty bad. Lots of pieces were sharp and you really needed to strong-arm it to assemble. We did get it put together, however since it took over a month to arrive I had already replaced my old chair with another one and no longer needed this. I was going to return it, but no free return and it would cost over $60 to mail it or UPS. I like the chair now that I have it set up. Its quite striking and very comfortable.
