Why the D7100? Auto Focus, the 51 point system inherited from the D4, 15 cross type, focuses down to -2EV, just doesn't go blind in low light, even at night without the AF-Assist light. Focus Tracking (AF-A and D51) tracks much more accurately. Can lock the selected focus point, no more accidental (very annoying) movement by the multi-selector when metering is active. The built-in flash can operate as a wireless commander, saving remote flash users at least one external flash unit. Viewfinder 100% view and sharper. Fast parameter change access with the configurable button controls, two command dials and two mode dials, so almost no trips to the menu system in the field. Can have AF Lock AND AE Lock independent of each other with custom buttons. U1 and U2 modes for instant access to often used (differemt) shooting parameter settings. More (useful) release modes (Q and CH and CL) and right at your fingertips. 2 card slots so you have on camera backup. Shutter to 1/8,000. Internal AF motor, non AF-S lenses work fine. I have a couple Micro/Macro lenses and tried the AF Macro Nikkor 60mm without success. It works fine with my D300S but just sat there with the D5300

The D5300 does not have a focus motor, so it will not focus AF-D lenses like your 60mm.The Nikon web site has more info on lens compatibility: http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/dslr/d5300/compatibility02.htm

Yes the Wi-Fi works but it's a bit different. You need to download the Nikon app on you mobile device, enable Wi-Fi on your camera and provide an SSID, from your mobile device Wi-Fi settings look for camera's SSID and get connected. Then you can use the app to transfer images selectively or all at once. Another good thing is that using app you can remotely take photos so you need not buy a remote.
