Very nice yarn
I needed a red, worsted weight yarn that was 80% acrylic and 20% wool, or as close to that as possible, to finish a cardigan I'm crocheting. This was suggested as a very close match to the yarn I was using. It's 75%/25%, and is working up just as nicely. It's a beautiful true red color and it arrived earlier than expected. I'm very happy with it and would order from this seller again.

Pretty sheen and easy to work with, but slightly rough texture
The first thing that caught my eye with this Estako Star-Worsted Yarn is the pretty sheen. I imagine it's going to make a statement with whatever I decide to make with it. It's springy, but it has a slightly rough, "wool" texture. It's also a bit fuzzy, so frogging (undoing stitches) can cause some knotting. The strands of this yarn are also loosely twisted, causing it to split more easily. Despite this, it's surprisingly easy to work with. Neither the splitting nor the knotting has been a problem for me so far, but it might be enough to discourage a beginner, though. The stitches are easy to see, which is good for learning, but that could also be due to the light color. The biggest concern for me about this yarn is that it's mostly acrylic, which is a synthetic fiber made from chemicals. According to several online sources, sweat and bacteria can get trapped on the surfaces of synthetic fabrics because they don't have the absorbency and breathability of natural fibers which can lead to more odor retention. Admittedly, though, it makes the fabric more lightweight and prevents pilling and shrinkage. The natural wool content is apparently only 25%, so I question if it's enough to actually make a difference. There is also an important detail to consider in regards to the fiber content: the OEKO-TEX stamp on the label. It's missing the required certification number and the name of the testing institute. This info is supposed to be there for consumers to verify the validity of a product's OEKO-TEX certification claim. In this product's case, the claim is "OEKO-TEX Standard 100", which (according to the official OEKO-TEX website) states "Every item bearing the STANDARD 100 label is certified as having passed safety tests for the presence of harmful substances." (Note that it doesn't say "free from chemicals", just "passed safety tests". You be the judge.) In this instance, I did a little research and discovered that the OEKO-TEX claim is indeed valid. However, the label needs to be corrected. I suggest you do your own homework, though, to verify for yourself as I'm not an expert and could be wrong. All in all, I think the best features of this yarn are the pretty sheen and how easy it is to work with. In my opinion, the texture is a little too rough to be worn directly against the skin, but I think it would work well for something like a hat, a shawl, or maybe a cardigan. I think it's a bit pricey, though, for a mostly synthetic fiber content.

NOT typical worsted weight #4 yarn
This yarn is NOT what I would have expected for #4 yarn. I am a seasoned knitter and this is more like a size 3. Just beware. I didn't even open the plastic because I could see it wouldn't work for me.

nice yarn, wish wool content was higher
This yarn was nice to work with, but I think the price is a little expensive for such a high acrylic content. It is pretty soft and I like the color. It was easy to use and held together for my crochet project.
