Not for me, but well built.
Great well built item. My ground was so hard that I was unable to use it properly. I needed to either be the Incredible Hulk or weigh about 800 more pounds. I would definitely recommend this for softer soil. The only critique I would have would to make the prongs sharper but then that would be a safety hazard.

Manual lawn aerator is effective tool for small yards and less compacted soil
The manual lawn aerator makes holes that allow water and fertilizer to reach the roots of grass. The four hollow tines penetrate the soil up to five inches deep. It’s a simple but effective tool that took me about 10 minutes to assemble. The steel frame is sturdy, durable, and corrosion-resistant. A padded handlebar makes it comfortable for your hands to grip. Using the aerator is easy, you push the tines into the soil without twisting and then pull them back up. It’s best to work with damp soil. Although the aerator is easy to use, the tool works best in targeted areas such as small yards where the soil is not too compacted. It’s more difficult to use in clay soils.

Outstanding Product - Outstanding Results !
Superior solid construction - this will last a lifetime. I purchased this to aerate areas that the core aeration machine cannot cover (tight corners, areas near irrigation heads, etc.) and patchy spots in the lawn.I was very skeptical about how much physical effort would be required and the actual results it would produce (I assumed this would be an Amazon return for sure). I was pleasantly surprised to discover how easy it is to use (I am 74 years old) and the excellent results (clean, deep cores) it produced in heavy Georgia red clay soil. The key is to water heavily before using. I used it after several days of rain.

A joy to work with, if you disregard the obvious hard work you'll have to put in
We used to have one with 3 plugs and a basket, and let me tell you: More is more! Not only did the middle plug of our old one break due to the extremely dry and compacted soil we had at that time (plus, probably, bad manufacturing), it also took longer to aerate our lawn than it did with this one. Besides the fact that you actually have to put in a lot of physical effort, not to say balancing abilities if you're a featherweight like me, this one is actually a joy to work with. The plugs are pointy enough to enter compacted soil and it's very satisfying to watch the soil worms come out of the plug. The holes have a nice depth, and while I can't say much about long term results for our lawn (which wouldn't be specific to this core aerator anyway) it did feel like we were doing a good job with this product. If you're older, I suggest you have your kids collect the soil worms instead of you, as this was arguably the most straining part of the work, or, if you don't plan to put top soil on the ground, you might want to leave them there altogether. Another tip for compact soil is to wait to do it some time after a rainfall, as the earth will be easier to dig into then.We also had a spike aerator previously, but a core aerator really is a different league for a compacted soil such as ours.I think the price was great for what I managed to do with it. Assembly couldn't have been easier.

Not ideal for clay
I live in an area with brutally dense clay soil, and this doesn't quite cut it. I was also not too impressed with the slight bend in the product (see first pic). You can get nice plugs of dirt, though, to check layers if that's a need. I do like the 1 or 2 footed options for jamming it into the ground, and the fact that it's stainless steel throughout. It's bigger than I expected, too.

Better than expected
Pulls decent 2 inch plugs in hard clay soil, after an inch of rain! Perfect for a small area of grass that was thinning out.

What A Waste
I can’t tell you how well it worked because it broke when I tried to get my first plugs. I’m a pretty big guy so maybe there’s a weight limit? Maybe I put it together wrong? Idk, I couldn’t tell you as it didn’t come with any instructions. Either way, this was a complete waste of my time. This did not work as planned. For how long it would’ve taken, I was probably better paying someone a few hundred to do it. Or even renting a machine.
