Guitarist John Scofield and bassist Dave Holland, two of jazz's contemporary masters, have played together over the years in contexts including projects with Herbie Hancock and Joe Henderson and a spirited co-led band with Joe Lovano and Al Foster. Memories of Home is their first duo album. I've listened to a lot of my Scofield albums, but this is probably the best. Close immersion with each other. From reviews I saw I thought it would be some sort of wild bash, but it's not, it's just fascinating and cool mellow. Major collaboration with Holland! Can't go wrong with this one.

An absolutely wonderful album - Sco sounds his gnarly best but always remains lyrical. Holland is a great creative force on the double bass. The two musicians interact really well. Intimately and brilliantly recorded in a way that only ECM can. My favourite of 2025.
