This IS mainly metal/stainless....VERY LITTLE PLASTIC
I used that title, because a review stating that the oven has very little metal and is mostly plastic almost caused me to NOT buy this product. I am SO glad I bought it. The first one arrived with a damaged/bent corner (although the box appeared to have no damage) and amazon.com made it very painless to return the oven and exchange it for an undamaged one. Second oven, BINGO, was the charm! Total time from first order, to delivery to pick up of damaged oven to arrival of second one: 4 days. I checked this oven with a magnet to make sure that the exterior is metal and the magnet stuck to everything except the stainless front. The only plastic I have found is the top/bottom of the microwave door frame and the handle of the pizza drawer. Well, the interior is plastic, but that's to be expected for MOST micros, so I don't count that at all. This microwave may be a little bit noisy, but I can live with that. I have used the drawer only for toaster belgian waffles a couple of times and heating up quick snack items, but we plan to use it mainly for steak fries, tater tots and heating up pizza slices, so I anticipate it to do exactly what we want it to. As for the microwave, I heated up a big bowl of mashed potatoes today and the "reheat" function worked perfectly. The potatoes came out hotter in 6 minutes' time in this oven than they ever did in my over-stove 1400 watts' microwave! I couldn't believe it. We have remodeled our kitchen and I really wanted a drawer microwave, but no space for one. This toaster drawer/micro combo was a compromise, but now I am very, very happy that I made this purchase. No lost cabinet space for the drawer and the micro fits perfectly in the corner of my counter where my old (ugly) toaster oven used to sit. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT! As for the plastic covering....I do appreciate that others wrote about it. I got a one-edged razor and carefully slid it in the crevices as I pulled the plastic tautly and there are, as a result, no "hanging" plastic remnants. I recommend you be careful in using the razor along the plastic frame, however, for if your blade slips, you will mark the plastic. (I did that on one tiny spot, but I'm the only person that has noticed it so far.) If you are looking for a two-in-one combo., this is the product to purchase. The lower wattage isn't noticeable to me--and like I said earlier, I've had a 1400-watt microwave for years. The item does not get that hot--only on the left side where the vents are, and then not any hotter than my toaster oven got so that's not an issue either. In fact, you won't even notice how hot the toaster is until you actually open the drawer. I lined the tray with aluminum foil while cooking to aid with clean up and it was a breeze. Note: the fan continues to blow after you turn the oven off so it can cool down. Be sure to measure your spot where you are going to put it, though. Mine has exactly 1/2" clearance. I like that in my kitchen b/c it makes it look more custom. And finally--honestly, my old microwave didn't light up (the controls, I mean). I did have a clock, which this one has, that is lighted. The interior lights when you open the door. I love that there is no handle, which is NOT hard to open at all. AND, I love that it has a child lock to keep any potential disasters from happening. It looks good in my newly remodeled kitchen with the other stainless appliances, it is easy to clean under because of the feet. I am very happy that I bought this product and didn't let the reviews about the noise and the plastic covering and the erroneous statement about the body being mostly plastic deter me from getting it!

Absolutely Adore
This is a great product, the controls are easy to utilize and the pizza oven can be used for lots of things beside pizza: potato skins, cheese sticks and breaded mushrooms. Just about the easiest thing to heat things that you want to have crispy. Update: Many years and a move later, and its still going strong. I still use it several times a day. Update: 10 years later almost to the day, the microwave finally bit the dust, oven still works great. I'm going to be looking for a replacement now.

Wish I could buy another one!
UPDATE: After 4+years! still going strong. Would buy another one if I could find it. Fantastic microwave/pizza oven combo. Excellent LG! Some of the other reviews freaked me out (fire hazard), but after a month in use, it has performed well. The pizza drawer is great, but I would go for the shorter cooking time and keep an eye on it. The drawer power on light and fan staying on after using it also alarmed me until I realized it was to cool the drawer down not that it was still heating. But the frozen pizza I cooked turned out perfectly--using a 25 degree lower temp and 5-10 minute less cooking time.

Excellent Oven/Microwave for Offices
I have been searching a long time for a combo oven/microwave for use in my office. I bought this one about 6 months ago and am very happy with it. I often take sandwiches from home. I like to eat hot panini style sandwiches. This oven toasts them nicely in 5-6 minutes. You have to take care that the sandwich is not too thick with lots of fillings (for example a Subway style sandwich will probably touch the upper filament and burn, you probably would have to toast it with each side open). My colleagues have used it too for office parties for toasting large number of cheese-breads (while the dips are heated up in the microwave). And it is simply wonderful to heat up pizza in case I am am staying late. The microwave function is standard and works like any other microwave. Earlier reviews suggested that the exterior gets very hot, I have not observed that. It does get a little warm, but cools down quickly.

DON'T DO IT!!! LG CUSTOMER SERVICE and REPAIR SERVICE IS THE WORST!!
I am not usually one to complain about a product, but this one I could not let slide. I was so excited to get this microwave! I have a small kitchen and a teenager who could live on pizza and the oven/microwave combo seemed absolutely perfect! 4 months and 10 days after I purchased this microwave the microwave portion stopped working for no apparent reason. I thought "no problem, I will call LG and they will fix it, it's under warranty". I contacted customer service, which was obviously located in a foreign country because I was having a difficult time understanding "Steve". So they tell me that the nearest repair location is over 2 hours from me, but they said they would find someone closer and contact me within 7 or 8 days. Two weeks later I had to call them back and they gave me the run around again and said it takes 7 or 8 business days and someone would contact me...OK? I had to call again before someone said that they were going to REFUND my purchase price...I thought GREAT! After I contacted them several more times I was told to email my proof of purchase, which I did immediately. After not hearing back from them for another 2 days, I called again! I was told that they were going to mail me a refund and instructions on what to do with the non-working microwave. So another 2 weeks go by and today I finally received a LETTER telling me I have to purchase a new unit and then mail the proof of purchase and all labels on the back of the old unit. BUT...once I do this it will take 6 to 8 weeks to REFUND the money I have already spent on this heap of crap! The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced!! I don't trust that I will ever see the money again, so I told them where they could put the microwave! WASTE OF MONEY!!! DON'T DO IT!!! When you pay that much for a microwave it should last more than 4 months and 10 days!!

Not good for toasting and disappointing for other reasons as well
We've been using this for more than 6 months now and we're disappointed and wishing we'd bought something different. As advertised here, this model claims to have "toast functions" but this is an out and out lie - this can NOT be used as a toaster and in fact there is no mention of toasting in the next-to-useless user manual. Sure, you can put bread in the bake compartment and 7 or 8 minutes later you'll have something that resembles toast but tastes like bone dry cardboard. Completely dried out. When used for baking pizzas, this model does work well, so no complaints there; our main complaint was having been led to believe we wouldn't need to buy a separate toaster for our kitchen. Wrong! Another problem is that the lowest power setting isn't low enough. Should be able to soften butter without melting it, but it's difficult to do with this oven. When finished cooking, the oven emits a single limp beep and that's it - better than an annoying siren going off, but personally I like ovens that intermittently beep to remind you something's ready to be removed. Actually, I do have one complaint about the pizza function: when finished, the oven automatically goes into cool down mode, so you'd better pull your pizza out quick or it's going to get cold in a hurry!

Plastic/not stainless
First, the item functions just fine so far. The oven drawer cooks pizza, biscuits and cookies just fine. The microwave is fine for cooking frozen dinners (I don't do real cooking in a microwave). But, the exterior leaves a lot to be desired. The control panel is unlit and hard to read. Almost no stainless / almost all plastic. The top of the microwave seems to be peeling. I've only had this for about a month and even if it continues to work, I think it will start to look bad in short order. I was told by a friend that the plastic I see peeling may be a protective coating that is to be taken off b4 use, but I removed the foam plastic that was wrapped around it and I see no loose ends where this would peel off.

"We Love It!
My wife and I have three words for this oven. "We Love It!!!". It is quiet, mini oven cooks fast and keeps the kitchen cool, and love all the little features. Microwave could be a tad hotter but it works just fine. We love 12" pizzas and a small can of biscuits cooks on the minimum suggested time. If the instructions says 13 to 15 minutes, select 13 and you will get a nice brown looking biscuit. This one is an extra one that fits on the kitchen counter. The older one is above the stove and is hard to put large heavy items in it because of the height. The LG solves that problem being on the counter top at waist height. Another big bonus, how many time you wish you had a second one going at the same time. Using both, it really add in cooking time. The only thing though, make sure each microwave oven are on it own fused electrical circuit. --- We Love it!!!
