Yes. Silicone caulk will adhere to most things like stone and rock. The key is to make sure the mating surfaces are as clean and grease-free as possible.

Will this hold up to resealing a 850 gallon saltwater aquarium that’s 12’x36”x36”?

Accepted Answer

In my experience this is one of the only products out there which will bond glass to glass.  I have used all of the colors and have never had a failure either by shear or pull.  Properly prepared surfaces will ensure a good weld, but I would suggest a retention band around the rim and base- thats a lot of water!  I have heard rumor that this is the product used in large scale aquarium builds, and I would suggest you call an aquatics center or aquarium to make sure.  Hope it helps.

How many tubes will i need to reseal a 125gallon tank?

I think you can cover a 125 with three if you were really proficient, but I would get four just in case. The consistency is different than GE I and seems a little more thinner. It has a higher sheer force so it is very good if you are doing a complete rebuild (all glass separated) but if you are just resealing, you could probably get by with GE I. Hope this helps.

How many tubes will be needed for resealing a 33 gallon tank?

I have gone several standard 55 gallon tanks with a single tube. You must have a plan because silicone won't adhere to other silicone if it has been more than about 5 minutes. Be sure to start with a perfectly clean glass. I used acetone to wipe it clean just before starting. I only had one tank ever leak and it took almost 5 years. I was a small leak in a smaller tank and I resealed it again. Hope this helps.
