Great idea
I really want to love this rent. It is such a great idea. I just wish the quality was better. The first time we used this tent, it easily ripped while carefully sliding over our truck shell door. I didn't think this was the end of the world, I own Gorilla Tape but then when we were disassembling the tent, one of the ropes snapped in half on one of the tent poles. The zipper on the door is also not very user friendly and I can see bad things coming from it. I have started a return with Amazon. I would have been happy to have it replaced but that wasn't an option. I did order another one though. I really like this tent, I just wish the quality was better. I'd be happy to pay more for a tent that was more durable. I wanted to update my review after returning my first tent and purchasing a new one; The return process was seamless and so far we've had much better luck with the new one. We used it for the first time this Labor day weekend and it was fantastic. The zipper wasn't an issue with this one and no tears, or defective tent poles this time. I would definitely recommend setting it up with another person though. Also, follow the directions and make sure you square up your vehicle with the tent when backing in. Otherwise, it wont fit properly. I would also suggest buying better tent stakes and a bigger bag to store it in. Other than that, a really cool product.

Works well for a Jeep Wrangler with a Gobi rack.
Have only set up once, but did so in approximately 25 minutes. I don't have much tent experience, so the initial setup was slow. I suspect the next time will go at least 1/3 quicker. It fit my 2012 Jeep Wrangler 4 Door with Gobi Rack perfectly. A really nice little camping addition for the rig. It seems well constructed and seals well to the vehicle. There is even enough room to have the tailgate open with a bike on the rack, (have to be careful not to rip the tent when pulling around the bike). I'll be using it next week and will update this review. UPDATED: Quick update...I've been very happy with this product. I've set it up and used it on a number of occasions. I also had occasion to make a warranty claim (with less than a month to go) and received outstanding customer support. Tent is ideal for my use and love that it can be detached from the vehicle and left in place. I had to sections of a support pole snap. In all fairness it was in a thunderstorm and the winds were quite extreme. As mentioned above...Rightline customer service (Brian) was fantastic. The tent goes up fairly easy, (easier with 2 on a windy day). Can easily be detached and re-attached. Keeps the interior of the vehicle and tent quite dry (when used with optional rain fly). All zippers, pulls, and screens have held up sell over a number of uses.

Just the ticket!
Took the car and tent camping this weekend, and I'm very happy with the tent's functionality. It's very roomy, has a bathtub style sturdy floor, and is wind resistant. There are a lot of ways to attach it to the car, so I was able to find a way that works well with the element. I used two strong magnets to close some gaps between the tent and car- could use more. It took two people to assemble, it would be challenging for one person, hopefully possible though. Other reviews mentioned the tent sleeves catching on the poles and the zipper for the door catching the tent flaps- It happens, but no more than any other tent design. Definitely use a ground cloth- you will need to smash the tent to get out the air and fit it back into the bag- which is easier if the tent floor isn't muddy. Tent stakes are typical and fine to use. Poles are fiberglass, and will hold up for a while, not forever. It came with more straps than I needed. Windows are big and allow plenty of airflow, but also provide sufficient privacy.

Be Aware
I am a truck-bed camper. I have a ‘21 Tundra with truck bed shell set up for sleeping. I like to get outta town and into the woods. Depending on the season, mosquitoes and flies can be a problem. The Rightline SUV tent appeared to be a solution to the problem. This tent can strap onto the back of my truck bed shell and allow me to set up my camper table to cook and sit in comfort. The overall quality of this item is good. The seams are straight with adequate stitches per inch, the zippers are of good quality and functional, there is adequate room inside for two people to be comfortable. However, Be Aware, the set up does require two people, especially in a breeze. The tent poles are fiberglass and the diameter needs to be slightly larger. The one complaint I have is the method for securing the overhead rent poles to the tent floor and the tent stakes provided. In the online video, the narrator mentions, very briefly a ‘pole pin’, without much explanation. This is a small metal pin on a ring at the bottom four corners which is slipped into the metal sleeve at the end of the overhead tent pole. In my mind, as an old-time camper, this arrangement is wholly un satisfactory for stability in even moderate winds. The floor of the tent is of the same weight nylon fabric as the upper tent. This should be of a heavier weight fabric. I expect the floor to wear and tear shortly. In addition, the tent stakes provided are completely useless. They are children’s toys. I guess Rightline thinks you will be camping in the backyard. The tent stakes are aluminum and too thin. During set up several bent when placing in the ground. In addition, they are too short to be of much good in holding the tent to the ground in even a light breeze. Do not use them. I have other tent stakes. Overall, the pluses out weigh the minuses. This product fills a corner of the camping world adequately. I have a old Paha Que 10x10 screen room I have used for over twenty years with complete satisfaction. Knowing then what I know now, I would still buy this tent. But I would have paid more for a better tent.

Good tent overall, Great customer service
*7/20/2020- one of the longer poles ended up snapping. I didn’t notice this until taking down the tent. Reached out to Rightline’s customer service and they sent out a replacement covered under warranty. They were super great to work with and very fast getting the replacement pole out. 5 stars for customer service changing review to 4 stars instead of 3. Tent worked great this weekend. even rained a little bit and we stayed dry. 06/29/2020 The main issue with this tent was getting the end to insert into the tab for the pole that goes from front to back on the top. I had the tent stretched out as much as I could and made sure that the pole itself wasnt getting hung up in the fabric and it still tore. we have a campout planned this weekend so instead of trying to deal with returning it, I sewed it... There was also a little snag on the front of the tent from factory that will probably end up turning into a hole.. if you purchase this tent be very careful trying to get that pole in. This isnt my first rodeo with a tent and I couldnt believe how hard it was to get that in. other than that the tent is a great size and the rest of the qualify is there for a $300 tent. Looking forward to using it this weekend!

Poor quality and VERY DIFFICULT to put up by one person alone
This tent is a great idea that is very poorly executed using cheap materials. If you are planning to buy and use this tent as a single person, STOP, and go elsewhere. After watching Rightline's instructional videos on YouTube on how to put this tent up, I found that they left out the parts showing the "solo" Rightline Employee STRUGGLING to get the poles in the pockets -- especially the top pole. After 2 full hours of sweating and some very foul language, I finally managed to get the tent up. (Incidentally, after my 2 hour struggle, I took the tent down, took the center pole back out, and had a friend try to put the pole back in by himself. A lot of bad language and, "Why did you buy this thing, you will never get it put up by yourself.") To be honest, due to putting so much tension on the center pole, I was afraid it was going to snap . . . and don't think the two side poles are any easier to deal with. In addition, as noted in other reviews, the "mesh sleeves" for the poles are horrible, I knew this at the time of purchase, however, I can guarantee they will not last over 4 - 5 setups, and they will be completely trashed. The floor is as thin as the walls and will not last unless you put some kind of carpet or rug down over it. The one and only door opens on the top and sides only, the bottom is fully attached, so every time you step in, you catch the bottom and/or step on it, which will also be trashed over a few uses. For the price of this tent, none of these items should be an issue. I am very disappointed and disgusted, and I put it right back in the box for return.

I love this tent
2 year Update: I still love this tent. We have used this tent A LOT!! We have used this tent in all types of weather: hot humid days, wind, rain, cold, snow, sleet, everything. It has held up very well. No rips or tears. No problems at all. Upgraded from 4 stars to 5 stars. I love this tent. A lot of good things 2 minor annoying things. On a recent trip to Florida we used this tent in conjunction with our 2013 Chrysler Town and Country minivan. It fit the back of the van perfectly and hooked up nice and snug fairly quickly. It was easy to hook into and unhook when we wanted to go into town or drive somewhere. During our stay there were some massive rain storms with heavy wind. The wind was relentless. The tent had no problems. It stayed put and there were no tears or holes from the pounding. During the rain everything stayed dry and there were no leaks, drips, or condensation on the interior of the tent. It worked perfectly. The only 2 minor things about the tent that need improvement were: the zipper for the front door catches when you try to zip/unzip the tent and the mesh that holds the poles catches the poles making it a little annoying when putting the tent up and taking it down. Overall a great tent. Plenty of interior room with a tall ceiling.

I wanted to love this. But the poor quality zippers defeated me on my first camping trip with it.
I thought this was the coolest idea; turn my Forester into a "RV". First night of camping this past Sunday, July 12th 2020, at Fair Haven Beach State Park, NY; the zipper of the only "door" literally fell apart. As I fully zipped the screen, the bottom portion of the double zipper handle fell off the end of the zipper. There was no stitching to hold it on, no solid end point, zero. Then the second zipper handle fell off as I was staring in wonder at this chain of events. Since it is the screen portion that zips to the tent, and the more opaque covering portion of the door had been open, the weight of it caused the fully zipped zipper to come apart even as I tried to hold it together. Now I had an entirely open side of the tent at bedtime with no way to close it. The mosquitos had been pretty bad up to that point and I was looking forward to being closed in to get some sleep. Fortunately I had a spare tarp and was able to cover the opening enough to keep from being fully exposed and to keep my old dog from wandering out of the tent. Didn't sleep much. The next morning I was able to slip one of the zipper handles over the ends of the zipper and MacGuyvered a closure with a wire bread wrapper. Have no idea where the other zipper piece went. This is a decent concept; but when you are counting on zippers in a tent the quality has to be there. All of the zippers are fairly cheap and I had a lot of difficulty closing the section that closes off the tent from the car. I am so disappointed. Because I had my dog with me, I slept in the tent portion. I was planning to camp by myself to experience sleeping in the back of the car but I am returning this so I won't have that opportunity. I'll just keep using the L.L. Bean tent that I've had for years . The one with the high-quality zippers.

Absolutely fantastic
We purchased this item to travel to Townsville from Albury with 2 dogs . 4 days 3 nights travelling for us in a Ford Ranger with cab. This tent was just fantastic it exceeded all our expectations its larger than we though fairly easy to erect once you've done it once or twice, fits around our vehicle nicely we used a mattress in the back of the cabin and put our bags in the tent very comfortable even with 2 dogs. I would highly recommend this product if it's an overnight or short stay situation. (best thing) its fairly large and works as described. (worst thing) a little bit fiddly to get pole through to erect and dismantle.

SUV tent
Absolutely brilliant! Easy to put up. Done in less than an hour! Was expecting it to take so much longer for a first time. Would easily do it in no time now. Can’t recommend highly enough! Wrapped around my f pace easily! Honestly a great buy

Se rompió un palo en el primer día de uso
Buena carpa por su tamaño, sin embargo la calidad es baja, se rompió un palo de la estructura en su primer día de uso por un viento que debería haber aguantado.
