The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ (Official Edition) [Smith, Joseph] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ (Official Edition) Review: Good book - Good book thank you Review: See For Yourself - Having spent two years in Australia as a missionary seeking to teach people about this book and having studied it carefully for over thirty years, I offer the following: Argument over the Book of Mormon's content, meaning, or authenticity is ultimately not going anywhere. Such arguments have been going on regarding the Bible for thousands of years. To this day half of the Bible (the New Testament) is disregarded as an unauthorized addition by Jews who reverence the Torah. See, Deut 4:2. The Book of Mormon from its title page purports to be one thing--Another Testament of Jesus Christ. New scripture from a God who is following the same pattern He has followed for generations; new scripture to complement the old. The Book of Mormon is for persons who wonder why the Bible stopped--who wonder where the prophets have gone. For a good long time the world wasn't ready to have a prophet. In the 1830's, in a country with unlimited possibility and unprecedented religious freedom, God again revealed Himself to a prophet. I find it curious that people who revere prophets such as Moses, Abraham, Daniel, the Apostle Paul and others will not test claims of a modern prophet. I wonder if Isaiah had trouble distributing his book--it demands a close reading, was doctrinally controversial and probably disturbed the governing orthodoxy. But that is the way God works, He allows us to decide whether to read the book. The Book of Mormon is the means given by God to test the veracity of the man who brought it forth--Joseph Smith. It is a test--no more no less. The Book of Mormon itself at Moroni Chapter 10 (the last chapter of the entire work) at verses 3-5 is instructive: "Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts. And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things." So, instead of engaging in argument, test the Book. Read it and ask God whether it is true. I have. It is.

Truly a gift from God.
I donโt understand why people complain about the Lord speaking with us on a continualโฆJoan of Arc asked the same thingโฆwhy are you complaining because I speak to God and He speaks to me โฆisnโt that the whole purpose of prayerโฆanswers to prayers= the R wordโฆrevelation. Islam also teaches that the Quran ( recommended study too ) is Gods final word and Muhammad His last prophet and many Christianโs teach this same stuff about the Bible which I also love. Itโs not up to any of us to put God in a box. As for me and my house we will gladly listen to the Lord yesterday today and tomorrow wherever the truth leads. And whenever and however He sees fit to give it to us. This has been always His pattern and He doesnโt change. This is how we can have faith in Him bc He is the same always. Gandhi said the truth is the truth even if you are a minority of one. The Book of Mormon, that cost some of the best lives of the nineteenth century, deserves your attention. Only if one is unafraid of truth can one find it.

Read it for yourself
As with all holy books, it is best to ignore the introductions, headers or even interpretations written by others which are mostly written by scholars who have not been inspired by the Holy Spirit. The scholars put a great dampener on the meanings of the holy words because they underestimate just how great the wisdom of the prophets are i.e they eclipse the wisest scholars in every way and bring life to those who have the Spirit. Apart from the added things which can be removed or ignored, the book is great because it contains the words of the prophets

Beautiful Portable Edition of Book of Mormon
I first read the Book of Mormon over 50 years ago, by me it's clearer on theology that the actual gospels. Joseph Smith if any one else is, is the foremost American to have claimed prophecy. It's not an easy read but a worthwhile investigation. The Book of Mormon has always been in my library since childhood, although not a Mormon, but well read in LDS teachings and assertions I liked this version of the book as it is not to big to carry on buses and subways and easy to read. The BOM at least is a great American saga. By me the jury is still out on Jos. Smith and the BOM, but I think that Jos. Smith did not write the BOM. Read it and you decide. It the American religious question.

I'm finding this quite interesting. It's changing my perception of the Latter Day Saints immensely.

The Book of Mormon as far as I'm concerned is the Word of God...it is 'Another Testament of Jesus Christ'...it tells of a remnant of one of the Prophets of the Jews...LEHI...being told to move his family away from Jerusalem as the Jews as a whole were going to be taken into captivity...Lehi leads his family into the wilderness and eventually a large ship would be built and the family would sail it to a promised land...the Americas as we know them...here the family broke into two factions...the Nephites and the Lamanites (both names after two of Lehi sons)...covering a time period from around 600BC to around 400AD of these people that inhabited an area thought to be where modern Belize is in Central America. The Nephites were to know of the coming birth of the Saviour of the World and were given signs that were to occur during their time-frame thousands of miles from Bethlehem...they also were aware that this Saviour would be put to death and three days later be resurrected from the dead...in the Third Book of Nephi it can be read about the visitation of this Saviour...JESUS CHRIST...to the then people, where upon Jesus declared that they were the people he spoke about in Jerusalem as being the 'Other Sheep'...here Jesus choose Twelve Disciples to carry the work on after he would leave. There is also a work of the Book of Ether, which recalls the journey of a group of people that left the area of the Tower of Babel and travel to the New World and also records their demise... The final two books: Book of Mormon and Book of Moroni tells us of the sad demise of a once proud people whom had witnessed the Risen Christ, whose children had received a remarkable blessing and whom had lived a remarkable period of time where Sin wasn't present and Love abounded...the finale of the Book of Moroni is the fact that as a society - the Nephites were no more and the plates were deposited in the ground for their awaited time to come forth in the Last Days...which would occur early in the nineteenth century when Moroni now a resurrected being, showed the plates to a young Joseph Smith Jnr. a few years before he was allowed to translate from them and bring about a book that many will proclaim as to being the Word of God...as well as many who will call it anything but that... As for me, I know it's truthfulness...I know it through reading, studying and praying...I can in no way do this for anyone else; only you can do that and what final decision you make is yours only to make...if this report helps you make a choice that is to read, study and pray about the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, then I hope my effort of typing has been worth the time i've undertaken to do so and the time you've undertaken to read this...God Bless!

I wanted to study this for completion because I find it fascinating how the Gospel spread in ways that as humans we don't accept but God moves in mysterious ways. It's also good to know what fellow Christians and pple of other religions believe in as to nurture understanding and peace between us. This copy has book introductions and Adam Smiths testimony, an index and background into the formation of the Mormon community...nothing like the series lol

Hello! I recently purchased this book as a devout Christian. I am researching other religions and unfortunately they'd run out of free books by Jesus. However, this copy is an original and is in nice condition. Great value I say, and I'm sure you will too. I'm not sure how accurate the book is, however. As it tells of things like cattle, donkeys, steel, silk, elephants, and wheat in Pre-Columbian America. None of them existed in America before the 1500's. I'm no historian though, and the possible inaccuracies in the Book Of Mormon should not reflect on the rating of 5 stars. Quality purchase, well delivered by the company. Apparently there is now a theatre documentary in London about the religion. I have booked some tickets for me and my very religious grandparents, and hope to show them the documentary written by Parker & Stone (That duo sounds familiar, maybe I've come across them in my Sunday mass before?) I recommend buying this book to anyone wishing to buy this book
