Here is an extraordinary new approach to healing by an extraordinary physician-writer -- a book filled with the mystery, wonder, and hope of people who have experienced seemingly miraculous recoveries from cancer and other serious illnesses. Dr. Deepak Chopra, a respected New England endocrinologist, began his search for answers when he saw patients in his own practice who completely recovered after being given only a few months to live. In the mid-1980's he returned to his native India to explore Aruyveda, humanities most ancient healing tradition. Now he has brought together the current research of Wetern medicine, neuoscience, and physics with the insights of Ayurvedic theory to show that the human body is controlled by a "network of intelligence" grounded in quantum reality. Not a superficial psychological state, this intelligence lies deep enough to change the basic pattenrs that design our physiology -- with the potential to defeat cancer, heart disease, and even aging itself. in this inspiring and pioneering work, Dr. Chopra offers us both a fascinating intellectual journey and a deeply moving chronicle of hope and healing. Review: If you are interested in energy healing type methods you may want to check out this book. - As someone who has been a voracious reader for more than 7 decades my interests have ranged from the hardcore scientific to the often mysterious esoteric, This is why while browsing on desertcart when I came across this 278-page hardcover book (Quantum Healing: Exploring the frontiers of mind/body medicine by Deepak Chopra, M.D.) I decided to purchase it. First off, you should know that this is a serious academic study of the relationship between modern traditional medicine and the energy healing systems being practiced in the United States and around the world. The author is well-known in his field was educated and trained in western medicine but sought out some of the healing methods in India. This book is organized into two parts (The hidden physiology and body of bliss) and covers in detail his personal research into various traditional and esoteric forms of healing the body. This is a well-researched and informative text exploring the many mysteries of science and medicine in the healing arts. If you are interested in the scientific approach to traditional and holistic type of healing methods you may want to check out this very informative book. Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Never trust a politician: A critical essay on politics and politicians). Review: Great book to read if you ever had the slightest doubt of western medicine. - It's another great book written by Deepak. The beauty of this book is that unlike many other spiritual books, it uses many specific scientific researches, theories, case studies to support the theory versus to ask you to just feel "God"! Strongly recommend this book to people who need hard evidence to open the door to spirituality or people who would like some scientific evidence to back to their spirituality. It has also opened my eyes to understand the mind body connection from a brand new angle.

A Fascinating Foray Into The Fusion Of The Mind In Body In Respect To Healing
Quantum Healing - Exploring The Frontiers Of Mind-Body Medicine by Deepak Chopra, M.D. is fascinating foray into the fusion of the mind and the body in respect to the healing possibilities to be had. Chopra sifts through some studies, as well as uses examples known to him to showcase that the power of the mind is vital in healing. In fact, in some cases it could be said to be the main driver in someone's ability to heal. Although this particular book was published over two decades ago, the information still holds as true now as it did back then. Serendipitously, more and more studies have come about showing the inherent link between the mind and body and how that can play a crucial role in the art of healing. Unfortunately, the opposite is also true. While the author doesn't discuss this, it has been discussed elsewhere however. Individuals that allow their thoughts to err into more detrimental states can set themselves up for failure at the outset. Or sometimes, doctors will tell people that "they can't be cured" as happens to so many, and people run with those beliefs [and they are beliefs, because this has been proven wrong a lot more than people realize, and am a living example of this myself] all the way beyond the cliff's edge. One of my favorite parts of the book, although not explored at length, was delving into the power of meditation. As some of you may know, meditation has outstanding healing powers, and it has helped me in conquering disease. It wasn't used by itself however, but it was an integral component in my healing repertoire and will always will be part of my life. Let's digress, though. In its totality, the book was good, but not great. If you've researched this subject the book won't have a lot that you probably won't know, or have already come to the conclusion too yourself. If you haven't however, this book features information that should be pondered deeply by society, for its implications spawn at warp speed and its ramifications are deep in scope. As a side note, a new revised and updated version is available. Although haven't read it myself, it might be a decent jump-off point for individuals seeking additional information. Regardless, please keep in mind, the thoughts we plant in our minds ultimately may grow into healing, or disease.

So much more than a quantum theme.
I was intrigued by the one star reviews before purchasing this book because they were mostly physicists or those knowledgeable of physics who gave it scathing reviews. Luckily I was not swayed by their opinions and went ahead with my purchase. For me this is a very well written and interesting account of a medical practitioner's evolution from traditional to alternate treatment. The only fault in the book I can see, from the point of view of one star ratings, is the choice of the title with the word quantum in it. I think this must have created some sort of expectation of medical treatment via quantum theory which is a far cry from the treatment being promoted in the book. For me it was so much more than an analogy using our understanding of quantum physics and the similarities to the workings of the human body and physical reality. For me it was instructional on the workings of both normal and diseased human physiology and the associated psychology. I can relate to the many accounts of the association between contracting and battling with serious illness and mental outlook as well as physical deterioration via "old age". It doesn't surprise me that the one star raters were not able to recognize themselves in the book. Hint: If you go walking through the woods on a warm autumn day, some of us will feel the leaves under our feet and smell the ripe dank earth and watch the light as it plays in the branches overhead. Others will only be aware of the stark physical elements whether that be the smell of the argon and xenon gases or the frequency spectrum of the sunlight. Not that I'm ignorant of science especially physics but it is a limited field and does not really overlap with psychology, which to me is the main theme of this book. One of the best $4;00 I've ever spent.

Totally GET IT!!!
I am so thankful for this book by Chopra. What I especially enjoyed was his description of the quantum intelligence within us. He explains that our bodies cells naturally regenerate over time--time and time again. A traumatic event that he/she experiences at one point in time can be relived dozens of years later--and can be truly re-experienced emotionally as if the trauma has just again occurred. Chopra poses the question ' if the cells that were present during the actual traumatic event have since died and have been regenerated--where then is the being drawing the emotions from the past from?'...(I ask not to be quoted as I am not quoting Chopra word for word). This idea stirred within me a great sense of awareness. Our bodies truly are extensions of something much much greater than what our physical senses are able to reveal. If our eyes could sense radiation, our physical experiences and thus perceptions and thus realities would change...What then is our reality? I was left feeling fully content and satisfied with knowing--we know nothing--not really anyway... I am comfortable and even more excited about life--because I know for certain this physical life is simply just one form of that which we human beings call 'physical life.' We are quantum beings having a dense physical experience...and our perceptions--or shall I say--what we choose to perceive alone dictate our realities. What we focus upon--will ultimately define that which we define as reality.... Namaste...

A great introduction to a fundamental discussion
This is my first book from the author, I have to admit my expectations were low at the beginning because of a preconceived idea about the author and the topic. I am glad I went through with reading the book, I found the main premise of the book very interesting and even fundamental. I do not have the information yet to give a convincing argument (although this book was a definite good place to start) but intuition tells me that the connection Dr. Chopra makes in the book is right and that all of us should pay mucho more attention to the relationship between mind-body-intelligence of bliss as he calls it. If you are like me and believe there are many many important things of which we know nothing about, I believe this book might be of interest.

Very digestible, very inspiring
Chopra beautifully presents the science behind his approach to healing, a paradigm shift to the traditional western scientific method. It's a beautiful book that demonstrates how we all have within us the potential to heal ourselves through accessing the place beyond mind, the place of pure peace, joy, potentiality. He's a man of great experience in assisting people in healing themselves, and it's clear his objective has been to discover deeper truths where other scientists may have ignored the inconsistencies of the traditional model. His findings are explained with science, but not too heavy with jargon, and with a good blend of personal stories and case studies...I read the book in a few days as it was difficult to put down. If you're ill I'd recommend you read this and also flood your brain with success stories of healing, so you can see how possible it is...actually my advice stands for everyone, not just those diagnosed with an illness.

Encouraging and easy to understand
I am training to be a healer and this book was on the reading list. It is by far, the most informative book on the mechanisms involved in the body's amazing capacity to heal itself. Deepak's description of the quantum involvement is very easy to understand. Highly recommended.
