Used for trip from VA to CA
I bought this dude to the fact i couldn’t put a heat source on my reptiles and it got pretty cold some nights the heater i know wasn’t helping much for them. This was durable enough i stuck it under a thick washcloth and put it under them so it didn’t burn them. They slept for a good while with these and in the hotel they even lasted overnight. When we have to move back home I plan on getting more of these for them.

Great item
Works well to transport reptiles. I used during a move drove 18hrs and they maintained heat for the babies. All was well. Great price.

Didn't even last 15 hours! My lizard almost died!
I got these to keep my Crested Gecko's tank warm in case of an extended winter power outage. When a big storm came and knocked out power all over, my apartment got down to 58*F. I had already put in one of these "40+ hour" packs well before that, and it heated the cage just fine without the danger of burning my pet. But I checked it a few hours later, and it was already cold and hard and wet. And my Crestie was a very dark color and unmoving (not dead thankfully.) The tank was so cold. I immediately put in a new one and warmed up the tank, saving my lizard's life, but it only lasted a few hours, again. I will NOT EVER use these for shipping anything! Meanwhile, purely by accident, I was digging in a top cupboard shelf where I keep my power outage supplies and a big bag of 72 hour packs fell out that I'd completely forgotten I'd bought several years earlier. Well, they won't be good anymore, I thought. I opened one up for a test, and it worked just fine - for three days straight! I had coincidentally come down with a cold, and I cuddled up in bed with this other pack even after the power came back on, without burning myself like I do on "hand warmers." You'd think I'd name it as a different brand, but it's the SAME BRAND! What??? Has quality dropped off? Did I get a bad batch? I don't know, but from now on, I'm keeping those old 72 hour packs exclusively for warming my Crestie in winter power outages, and I'll keep these bad 40+ hr packs for when I'm sick. :/

This was ok for what I needed, but not sure how it would be in a true emergency
I am a new owner to a Uromastyx and I like to prepare for everything. I wanted a heat source to take her to a veterinarian visit. I read the directions and it states it gets to the hottest optimal heat in about 4 hours. So I timed it and woke up early and went ahead and activated it. I wanted it ready and warm when we were at the appointment, not warming up on the way there. I have a plastic shoe box with lid that you get from a dollar store. I put holes in the lid. I pulled off the sticky part and placed one of these on the lid after shaking it up. At the 4 hour mark, it was warm to the touch. But didn't feel super warm. I also had the box wrapped in a towel. On the car ride, I kept my heat on full blast. This did give me peace of mind knowing that there was a heat source at the appointment itself. If I was in an emergency and the power went off, I would worry that this would do the job. It didn't get especially hot at all. I also feel like I would need to use multiple of these if in a true emergency. They are very pricey for what you get. If I didn't need these in my kit, I would not have bought them. However, I am glad that I do have them. Just in case.

Works well
Shake very well to activate. I let it set out in the air for about 30 minutes before packaging my reptile. I wrapped in paper towel and taped to top of the insulation of reptile shipping box. Shipped priority overnight in 20 degree weather across US! 🙌 (IF YOUR BOX IS LARGER THAN A 7X7X7 USE 2)

Didn’t last as long as it said
These definitely didn’t last as long as it said they would so that was disappointing. Maybe I just got a bad batch.
