Excellent Quality, Simple, and Works Perfectly
I bought the SABRENT 2.5 Inch SATA to USB 3.0 Tool Free External Hard Drive Enclosure (EC-UASP) after the USB connector on my previous external drive failed. Instead of replacing the whole drive, I removed the HDD and installed it into this enclosure—and I’m really glad I did. The build quality is excellent. It’s lightweight but still feels solid and durable. Assembly was incredibly easy—truly tool-free as advertised—and took just a couple of minutes. Performance has been flawless. It connected immediately, works perfectly, and I’ve had zero issues so far. It basically gave new life to my old hard drive. Overall, I couldn’t be more satisfied with this purchase. If you’re looking for a reliable, simple, and well-built enclosure, this is a great choice.

Almost perfect
This was exactly what I was looking for. Easy access to swap a drive if I need to and best part of all IT HAS A POWER SWITCH ON IT! Now for those of you that wonder why I say that. First of all I work on computers and I also edit audio and video files for various companies for commercials, demos, theatrical events and that's my side business and hobby. So I move around a lot of large raw and wav and assorted video files and backup applications and then there's Windows 10. If you live and breath in windoze land and by their rules like an ostrich with your head in the sand or a sheep then you may as well stop reading this and move on. But if you run multiple operating systems like I do then golden rule #1. Windows watches and monitors EVERYTHING you do constantly. All my documents pictures and private things are kept on external drives specifically for this reason and also because I want to be able to use them in various flavors of linux or on mac as well. so ALL of it stays on externals nicely out of windows prying eyes. I can plug this drive the way I have it set up into any pc, and use the on and off switch when I want something from it. This completely stops all this "you need to scan and fix this drive before you can use it" crap. Now anyone that uses other operating systems knows no matter what you do, even if you use the little eject usb options in windows, if you run the drive on a different operating system first time you use it on windows again its going to do this and also it may ask you or tell you to reformat the drive. There is nothing wrong with anything except its just windows getting prissy cause you used another operating system besides theirs. this is the only reason this happens. I say prissy cause amazon wont let me say B----y in a review but this is the bare facts. Windows thinks its the only thing in the world worth using and they want you to think that too. Anyway I dropped a Crucial BX500 1tb sold state drive in this and its perfect, and does everything I want it to and I'm getting great read and write speeds and a lot faster than any of the seagate or WD external drives and it does exactly what I want. The only thing that would make it any better was if it was externally powered so windows couldn't put it to sleep. If you use external drives and are tired of drives sleeping and windows constantly nagging you about what you do with it then try doing it thsi way. Its faster, its solid state so you don't have to worry about shock speeds or heat and its fast. Extremely fast depending on the drive you choose to put in it and best of all its actually lower in priceand you get better performance than the other "ready-to-go" off the shelf pre made externals. Read a little, learn a little and try it yourself and save yourself some money time and frustration. and dont let the odd usb cable fool you, they are easy to find and the connector is a lot less trouble free than a mini usb or type c and the best part of it, you can use this setup with a common cable they way I have it set up with any android or apple phone that allows external storage so its versatile as well. Just buy it. You wont regret it. I have mine setup with 2 partitions. one set up as storage and I have a 40gb partition with Linux Mint 64 bootable on it all set up as a service toolbox for other PC's as well and it just flies in anything I attach it to. A lot faster than a flash drive and 900gb of space to do or save anything else you want. You cant make a seagate or WD prefab external do that like this and have it run this well. There's absolutely no cons here, just possibly the perfect external drive case.

Perfect for Turning Old Drives into External Storage
Great product! The SABRENT 2.5” SATA to USB 3.0 Tool-Free Clear Enclosure is very easy to use—no tools needed and the drive installs in seconds. The clear case looks nice and the USB 3.0 speed is fast when transferring files. It works perfectly for turning an old laptop hard drive into a portable external drive. Very convenient, reliable, and a great value for the price. Highly recommended!

A Little Hard To Open, But A Great Product!
Opening the case can be stubborn, and there are no indications which direction the case slides apart. Other than that, it's an excellent product, and performs as advertised.

Easy as pie to use and very well made.
I needed a new enclosure for a 1TB HDD I wanted to add to my system as a local backup device. Being familiar with the Sabrent brand, I purchased this enclosure because it was very reasonably priced, I knew it would have high quality, and I liked the idea of tool-less installation. I am happy to say my expectations were more than satisfied. Here's what I like about the enclosure: 1) Great price. 2) Flawless quality in fit and finish. 3) Dead simple installation: slide open the enclosure, line up the HDD, slide it home, close the case, and your new drive is ready to use. 4) I wasn't expecting the activity/power LED, but I am glad the company designed one in. 5) It has a nice, short USB cable, which, given my setup, is much better than one several feet long. 6) And, it has a convenient power switch. If you have a SATA HDD in need of a new home, you can't do better than this enclosure.

Gives me access to a dead laptop hard drives. Inexpensive, easy, effective.
An old HP laptop (2015) finally died (wouldn't even start up) and the two drives inside have files I need to access. Pulled the 2.5" hard drives out of the laptop and this little box solved the access issue for very little money and very little effort. Other reviewers have had issues with getting a drive into the enclosure but I installed one of the drives, a 15 year old 9mm 2.5" HD, with no problem. Slipped in the drive, snapped the enclosure shut, plugged it in and I have file access again. Only had it a day, so can't comment on durability or reliability, but right now it seems like a 5 star and I'll get another one for the other drive.

Works Great!!
This review is for SABRENT 2.5 Inch SATA to USB 3.0 Tool Free Clear External Hard Drive Enclosure [Optimized for SSD, Supports UASP SATA III] (EC-OCUB). I have a 320GB drive and a 1TB drive from two very old Dell and HP laptops that I no longer have but I kept these drives “just in case”, never thinking that I’d ever be able to read them, EVER. Well, with this enclosure, I was finally able to access everything on those old drives. I actually bought this clear enclosure and an aluminum enclosure at the same time to compare them. While I like this clear enclosure for how cool it looks and how easy it is to insert my old SATA 2.5” drive into it, I thought the plastic felt a bit “weak” and wanting. The speed was also fast as far as i could tell. If not for the coolness factor, I’d say to go with the aluminum enclosure because it’s nice and solid but just takes a little more work to slip the drive into it. Overall, this is one of my best findings so far this year. After almost a decade of holding on to the old SATA drive from my laptops I can finally access all my old files and/or reuse the drives for backup. I am so psyched about this! I’m not too wild about the thin plastic feel of this enclosure so I’d give it a 4.5/5.0 - 03/20/2026.

Fantastic product (2.5" SATA hard drive USB 3.0 enclosure for SSDs)
Thank you, Sabrent, for making my computer-related woes easier to deal with once again. This works fantastically overall. It easily opens up without tools, but without feeling like it'll randomly pop open on you when you don't want it to. Protip: In order to lift the top cover off of the bottom half of the enclosure, make sure you hear or feel two clicks as you're sliding it away, not just one. At least with my particular unit, when I tried to lift it up after just one click, it wouldn't come off. I probably would have broken something if I forced it at that point. Two clicks is the key! In any event, I used this to clone an aging, terribly slow Western Digital 1 TB HDD from 2014, which contained the boot partition/primary OS, to a brand new Samsung 1 TB 870 EVO SSD so I could continue working ASAP without any OS-reinstalling fuss. This enclosure did the trick without any issues. I just used Samsung's "Samsung Magician" software to do the disk duplicating, but Acronis True Image cloning software, which you get a free copy of through Sabrent's website with the purchase of this product, would have done just as well (if not better, based on my past experience with Acronis during other PC upgrades and rescues). The enclosure is also small and light. It's made of a plastic which I'll admit feels a little less than durable, but I'll take it for now. Though overall long-term durability remains to be seen, I'll update this review if something happens. As it is, I'm actually planning on buying a second one of these to house another SSD to serve as my "rescue" drive for when I'm troubleshooting borked PCs. And you thought grandmas installing toolbars and other terrible malware inadvertently along with their mystery object games was a thing of the past... Sigh!
