I used Krustex gluten free pancake mix and it worked fine. I used tapioca starch in place of the cassiova starch. Here is a tip: Get the iron really hot by letting it sit in the pot of oil. About 60 sec to 3 mins. Then only dip it it in the batter half way. Dont cover the entire iron. Count to three while your dipping it in the batter. It might sizzle a little bit. Then place it in the oil, count to three then begin tapping or shaking it down carefully to get the flower of wet batter, to slide off. Make sure you have a deep pot with plenty of oil to cover the whole iron. Dont skimp. As soon as the flower comes loose count to three and get it out of there. Otherwise it browns too much and is over cooked. Even if it looks raw dont worry it will dry crisp.

Great product! It did take about a month to arrive and it did have some rusting; however, after cleaning it, it works wonderfully! I didn't use the recipe that came with the mold. I found a much easier recipe online. I was quite happy when I used it for the first time and my cookies turned out!

It’s quite a good one. But only problem is the welding marks all over it or loos like used.

Making lotus flower cookies I had only tried and seen one time...I think this tool worked perfect. It even came with a recipe. I used one I found on youtube and it they tasted almost perfect. Me being an american with zero knowledge till I had some a friend made I was the coolest among all my other friends I shared them with. Made me smile. It was fun me and my Mom had an awesome night of making these. Shes 75 Im 45. Super easy and fun to use.

I'm happy with how the package was arrived. I made the Lotus Flower Thai dessert as soon as I got it. The mold came off nicely. Make sure you follow the instruction closely when make the dessert. The mold needs to be hot when you dip it in the batter otherwise it will stick. Overall, it was a great purchase.

Don't buy. Find one that has the screw-in handle. This one is very poorly soldered to the mold, and was broken upon receipt. Being the metal worker craftsman, I have reattached once using the original connection, and now having to do a second re-attach. I would give it a lower rating but I don't think it is possible. Maybe a wire tie will work, but will probably have to replace at every use. Yeah, skip this and find one with a screw-on handle. Save your money here.

The item arrived earlier than expected which was nice! However when I opened the box the item was broken.The straight handle was completely detached from the cookie mold.As a temporary fix I used a long nose plier to make my first batch of cookies lol.I will get the item soldered by a family friend.I was really disappointed because I was really excited about this item, therefore the 3 stars for the broken handle.

Excellent product

I had been very excited about the possibility of making dok jok in Australia, but was very disappointed upon receipt of this product. I thought it would be a "DD premium" brass mould in its original packaging as the picture the seller provided. What I received is in fact a brandless, low quality, rustic product without any packaging.

I was disappointed, the item arrived with a broken handle so this will need to be returned.
