Wearing a helmet was a new experience, but a good one in every respect except when it came to my goggles. With a hat, the goggles stay put when you don't need them. With a helmet--well,all I can say is--how did such a huge design flaw get missed by so many helmet designers??? Do none of them ski??? Anyway, when I ran across this item while looking for something else, its brilliance was obvious. Stunning. I ordered two.The "thingie" is actually rubber. So it will conform to the curvature of the helmet, unlike a hard composite material. That is good. I do hope the glue is tough, only time will tell. Unfortunately, when placed properly on my helmet, it partially covered my helmet's vent control--a Giro Sheer--the slide control is on top of the helmet. But just the little "tail" was too long, so I took scissors and cut off a bit, it should not interfere with its staying in place. I hated to lose its aerodynamic look, but hated worse not to use it or to have it interfere with the venting. Actually, I also am not crazy about interfering with the helmet's overall sleek look, it is a very cool looking helmet. But my goggles were expensive and having them bouncing around tabletops or getting lost is worse. It is the age old struggle of form vs. function.I followed the instructions to put the goggles in place "at rest" so the thingie could be positioned. My Spy goggles must be larger than average goggles plus my helmet has a slight brim, so the thingie's forward projection seemed to poke into the foamy mesh on top of the goggles, so I did have concerns that it would dig a hole. I suspect that helmets without any brim would not have this problem. I waited the 12 hours before using them. To my relief, when I gave this combo a test drive, the rubber actually hits the hard frame of the goggle, not the foam on top. But it is very close. So we should be good to go--we are headed to northern VT for a little spring skiing, I will soon know!BTW, I ordered a black sting-ray. As you can see from the picture, it actually has a powdery surface and looks dark gray but that may change after it gets wet a few times. It isn't as gray as the picture makes it look. There are two other colors.It is only a matter of time before helmet manufacturers build in their own solutions to this problem but in the meanwhile, I think this is well worth the money. Thanks.*** follow up. When I blew out my helmet at Jay Peak in late March, the stingray went into the garbage can along with the helmet. But I liked it well enough to order 3 more. One for each new helmet. I'll never be caught again w/o a backup helmet in the car, especially at the rate I'm going through helmets. And I just bought some great goggles, even more reason to not let them snap back. This thing works. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Really works *by S***T on December 22, 2014* What a awesome product. As a skier for many, many years I have always liked to keep my goggle lenses in perfect condition. After all, your vision when traveling at high speeds is paramount to adjusting to unexpected terrain changes thus preventing possible injury. When we didn't wear helmets in the old days, keeping you goggles on your head when not skiing was rather easy. With most skiers and boarders wearing helmets today this can prevent a challenge. Before I bought this product my goggles would always slide off my helmet and dangle behind my head. A real pain. If it was snowing, the inside of my goggles would get snow moisture on them and needed to be wiped which in turn made scratches. With the cost of goggles today, that doesn't make me financially happy if they need to be replaced.The StingRay also keeps them on your helmet when you take your helmet off. Like when your in the lodge. Again, keeps them from getting banged around and scratched or worst yet lost. Great for kids in that regard.This StingRay product tackles all those problem easily and inexpensively. I ordered mine, easily attached it with the sticky back and at the end of every run, my goggles are right on the top of my helmet ready to be worn again on the lift up or at the top of the mountain. They don't slide off any more.Many kudos for an inexpensive, easy to wear solution to a common problem. I'd recommend this product to anyone that skis or boards. Heck, maybe even snowmobile or dirt bike riders. Beefy little item, and once installed looks organic to the helmet.
