Great for water-defensive persons, young or old
Works very well for a very water-defensive 9-year-old with a somewhat large head for a 9-year-old. This has been the key to doing stand-up showers for hair washing. You do have to place it an an angle, as they show in the diagram. And you have to make sure it is pressed against the forehead, so there are no gaps. Our child holds it on, rather than having us hold it. Make sure they are not tipping their head too far forward, but it doesn't have to be tilted backward either, just upright is enough. Then we can use either the hand shower spray (carefully aimed), or a cup to pour water over the head. This device drains all the water off behind the ears, which is crucial for our young one, who hates to get any water on the face or in the ears. The body of the unit is made of semi-flexible plastic, allowing it to be opened to position it on the head. Inside the lip of the unit a V-shaped rubber "gasket" is attached firmly to the unit all around the C-shape, allowing small gaps to be filled to make a seal on the head. My child's head is 20.5" circumference, and somewhat square-ish. I don't think this unit would be small enough for a baby, but it would probably work for a preschooler. I guess for a toddler it would depend on the size of the head. At the widest part of the unit, the semi-rigid part measures 5 5/8" diameter (14.5 cm). It can open up to maybe 6 3/4" diameter. The rubber "gasket" is is about 1" wide inside of the semi-rigid portion.

Perfect for hair washing!
So I definitely suggest everyone uses this when introducing hair washing. It’s so easy to use and seriously works. The only downside is it obviously doesn’t fit all heads and you have to hold it the whole time while washing. Also the inside holds very quickly! But just keep and eye on it and it makes bath time so much easier

Best spent money EVER!!!!! AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
My daughter, who is almost 4, recently became scarred of washing her hair. She had gotten some of my shampoo in her eyes and it stung. Ever since then she would not let me wash her hair anymore. Even with baby shampoo, no tear formula. I even went as far as rubbing shampoo in my own eyes to show her it would not hurt, but still, she was not having any of it. Every bath or shower turned into a huge fit, where she was screaming her head off, kicking and fighting me to the bone. The end would be a flooded bathroom and exhausted Mommy and daughter. Even taking shower with her and trying to talk her through it did not help. We tried cups, googles and sunvisors, but nothing worked. Finally I found this item here on Amazon. I searched it on youtube and found a demo video of it. I showed the video to my daughter and she was amazed at how the girl in the video was not crying and had no water or shampoo in her face or eyes. So, as a last ditch efford I decided to give it a try and ordered it. Not only was the shipping very fast, but this Lil' Rinser is worth every penny. We tried it out right away, and we had no problems at all. No water in my daughters face, no shampoo, no tears. It must have been the most relaxing and quiet shower ever in our house :) I cannot praise this item enough, I would highly recommend it to anyone who has a child that is fearful of washing hair. What you cant see in the pictures on here is that on the inside where the Rinser touches the head, there is a rubber "seal" like thing, with a groove in it that drains the wayer away from the head on both sides, kind of like a gutter I guess. This also seals to the head so water does not run down in the kids face... Again, super product, wish I had found this months ago. By it with no doubt or worries, this really works. Thank you to whoever invented this, you saved this Mommy's nerves :)

Works As Designed (Except For The Clip)
I bought this for my 5 year old son who has long curly hair and doesn’t like water hitting his face. He’s always very patient about it, but I wanted to make bath time more enjoyable so I decided to try this. The item functions the way it is designed to (keeping water out of his eyes) with the exception of the built in clip. I suppose this clip is meant to help keep the item in place while you rinse the hair, but it doesn’t fit around my son’s head, and it clearly didn’t consider those with longer hair (even if it did fit around his head to close the clip, it would get in the way during the detangling process.) I’ll more than likely just end up cutting it off. Also the packaging is very simple and easy to open/use, but it doesn’t speak to the clip and/or positioning of the rinser. Only the pictures help with that. Lastly, I ordered the yellow and green rinser and got the blue and pink.

Not for us
Did not work for my son. He said it was too tight on his head and made the hair washing experience worse.

Brilliant water hat
This product is bloody brilliant. My almost 3 year old went from crying to acting like a possessed child from the exorcist whenever it was time to rinse his head from his very expensive tear free shampoo. I got this for him in fear that my neighbors were going to call CPS. So I used it although the words “rinse off the shampoo” set him off in a rampage. With one hand I managed to keep the hat on him and rinse his head while keeping him from flying out of the tub. I honestly think I grew a few extra arms. Not one drop of water got on his face! This is seriously the best thing since sliced bread. Hopefully the next few times we use it he’ll realize his face isn’t actually getting wet and stop screaming before all the pets off themselves from the screaming. I recommend this to everyone. Unless your kid loves water on his face then in that case lucky you Update: it’s been about 3 months and he no longer gives me a hard time when I say it’s time to rinse. I make him look up and I just use a towel to take out the excess water from his hair so it doesn’t drip. Best purchase ever

Ultimately leaks - but may work for older children?....read on
This is a great CONCEPT for a rinse cap for finicky kids who cannot stand to have water touch any part of their face while having their hair washed. (Yes, I have one of those kids). However, you must apply a good amount of pressure to the rim of this cap in order to seal out the water and direct it into the well that drains it away from the face. Whenever I apply the right pressure to "lock out" the water, my daughter yelps that I'm hurting her neck. I sort of push her head back in the process. So, naturally, I then apply less pressure and water drains right into her eyes. If your kid is a bit older (maybe 5?) and can hold the splashguard firmly against their forehead on their own, then this will work for you. However, I have a 4 year old who just can't manage that yet. I wanted this little unit to be my savior from bath time drama, but sadly, it just did not function as advertised.

Takes patience for kids to get used to it but then it works great!
I tried several things to keep the water out of my son's eyes (he is 22 months old) and nothing worked. He started to hate baths and cried every time he felt water on his head. He refused to tilt his head up so the water would run down the back of his head and instead looked down quickly whenever he felt water, resulting in water in the eyes every time. When I first tried this visor he still cried and moved his head and water still got in his eyes but it was better. I have used it for several weeks now and finally, last night, he seemed to get it. He finally let me use it without crying or suddenly moving his head and presto! No water in the eyes at all, either when I got his head wet or when I rinsed off the soap. He looked surprised about this lack of water in the eyes and happily played in the tub while I got his brother clean. It takes patience, especially the first few times when your kid moves his head suddenly so water gets in his eyes anyway, but eventually it works. Highly recommended! Update: my son is 4 years old now and we still use this for every bath. He hates getting water in his eyes - thankfully this keeps the crying to a minimum. Still recommended!

My kids are so happy with this and it makes it so much easier now to wash their head. Only cons and I think it's normal, it's better to be 2 to wash their hairs: one is holding the spashguard right in place and the other one is washing and rinsing the hairs.

Brilliant product. Took a few days for her to ...
My baby turned into a very opinionated independent toddler and suddenly refused to have her hair washed and screamed the place down if water got on her face or ears. Thank God for her 'magic hat', as we call it. Brilliant product. Took a few days for her to accept but she now loves it and proudly puts it on herself. As long as she has her magic hat, hair washing is no longer a battle. I thought it was quite expensive for what it is but it is well made and sturdy and most importantly it works well and makes a good seal to protect eyes, ears and faces. Worth every penny for us.

Lifechanger for a toddler who hates water on her head
Shipping was earlier than expected. This thing really works. Just figure out how to position it and be sure that your toddler cooperates too.
