The pheromones are released by body heat and not water. **Q: Is this the same as the Adaptil brand collar?** A: The packaging states, "powered by Adaptil," so, I'm sure it's the same stuff. I looked at both websites but I did not see statements which specifically say that. I've used diffusers from both brands & tried ThunderEase calming aid spray which I liked better because the diffusers left a drippy residue on the walls around the outlets they were plugged into. I didn't like the mess. The calming spray was much cleaner but lasts about 4 hours and takes 15 minutes to reach effective potency. We ultimately tried ThunderEase collars and they've been the best choise for us. Our girl is visibly calmer and more confident and she gets continuous support. Over the past 6-8 months, she also seems to be developing coping skills with the T-collar support. **Q: Why did I Have to take it off due to dog scratching at it, he seemed more hyper with it on.** A: We think all the Adaptil products are great and we really needed a solution for our Beagle rescues who were extremely fearful and even considered “special needs” adoption because of it.
