Thermodynamics: An Engineering Approach (SIE) Paperback – 1 July 2017

This book taught me thermodynamics so well. Concepts which I thought were confusing are actually simple. The theoretical explanation is brilliant. After reading this I even thought of choosing thermal field as my career choice, which was mechanical design before. But actually, thermodynamics is used in so many branches of engineering.The book starts off with intro, energy & energy transfer, props of pure substances, energy analysis of closed systems and control volumes, 2nd law of thermodynamics, entropy, exergy, power cycles(gas, vapour and refrigeration), property relations, gas & gas-vapour mixtures(air conditioning), chemical reactions & equilibrium and compressible flow.( property tables also provided at the end)The chapters on entropy and exergy are written so well that I never had any difficulty to solve 2018 GATE questions of it. But I felt chapters on Power cycles (esp gas power cycles) require more problematic explanation too, that include formulae, along with the brilliant theory provided.Go for this one if you need to understand concepts well (problems are also provided).Recommended to all the engineers.

After reading this book u will find life philosophy in entropy,truely a gem,all chapters r written in such a practical manner tht it helps the reader not just to understand the concept but to connect the concept with real world, feeling blessed to be able to read such a beautiful book

This author is great. If you have purchased fluid mechanics also, then you'd find more on how TD and FM are correlated. I use both books supplemented by NPTEL lectures. Killer combination.

Each and every concept is explained very well in this book.Great Book for concept building.

Concept are elaborate with good depth of feeling.But the book is printed in black and white which reduces the reader interest. It is good if Mc graw hill provide the coloured printed book in India like other countries.

Book condition:Slightly damaged but negotiable for its price(Rs 200).Book:book is excellent for conceptual purpose and it will develope problem solving approach as we go through the theory and solved examples...For beginners it is the exact same thing which they are looking for.Book text is written quite systematic for learning and develops intrest to the subject even more.In conclusion,it will make you fall in love with thermodynamics...

No necessity of another thermodynamics book, if you have this one, is sufficient for all concepts.
