Very underrated
I have been playing PES 2016 on PS4 since release last year and picked it up on PC after trying the demo and liking it. Sure, the PC version doesn't have the same graphical bells and whistles (eg. lighting etc) that the PS4 does. However, I definitely think the gameplay is better on PC than PS4 (people will say I'm mad!). Its much more varied, such as passing/shooting/tackling and ball physics. I find the PS4 version laggy and a little repetitive if I'm honest. Take for example tackling, on PC you get more shoulder barging but on PS4 tackling turns into a stamping battle - theres no variation in the animation. Through balls and shooting are much more varied on PC with more flatter lofted through balls on occasion. The general gameplay, animation and goals seem more varied to me. Now the downsides are that people have reported problems with stuttering and lag on PC, even with high end hardware. I have overcome the issues as follows. Running on an older HD5770 I had to use Radeon Pro and turn on v-sync and limit the refresh to 60Hz. I'm not sure how this will work with people running higher refresh displays. Running on my newer GTX970 seemed even worse. I had major stuttering until I turned on v-sync in NVIDIA Control panel. Even then it was glitchy. Turned on triple buffering, prefer max performance, single display performance and max 4 pre rendered frames. Still occasionally laggy and intermittently glitchy/stuttery. The only thing that has worked so far for me is disabling core 0 in the process affinity task manager settings. Refer to "Game is not Fluid - Lagging" thread on the PES 2016 Steam discussion forum. Now the game on my system is fast, fluid and zero stutter. I am using PTE PES Patch, which includes sweetFX and pitch mods if you like. Hope the above helps if people are getting stuttering etc. Knocked off 1 star because Konami could make this game fantastic on PC but clearly chose not to.

PES in the bin. PES gone down the tubes!
Disappointing is not the word. I tried Pro evo again and, for the PC at least I have a game that crashes all the time, looks ok byt plays like a dog, the goals are too easy to score and, overall the game play is not there. I gave it plenty of time, kept trying to get along with the game but ,it either crashed or left me feeling like I had not really played a game. Very sad as I wanted this to be Pro Evos finest moment and, now I feel its the worst.

Konami Must Do Better or Face Slipping Down The Table.
I was really hoping to like this game, but I'm sorry to say that it really falls short. The custom creation centre that was present in previous incarnations of PES is now not present, which given the severe lack of stadia featured in the game is poor. Gameplay-wise, goalkeepers are horrifically awful and fail to stop easy shots due to their inability to stretch as they make a dive. It's a bit like watching an old man stooping down to pick up the January bills off the doormat. Fortunately, it's not just your 'keeper who is at fault, the CPU's opposite number is equally as bad. There are also times during the games where a player feels like there is a lack of genuine control over players. There is also no need to worry about your players getting injured however, due to the unbelievably 'jolly nice play' from the CPU. After nearly a month of plying this game so far, I have not seen a single member of the opposition booked. In fact I've only seen the CPU give away a hand full of fouls. Quondam really need to pull their socks up with these kind of the bug ridden features. On the PC version, navigating between screens appears clunky and the competition settings are lacking many features that feel like you can genuinely immerse yourself in a real life footballing season experience. On the plus side, the general footballing action has a fairly realistic feel to it. The achilles heels of the Goalkeepers inability to prevent many shots is somewhat papered over by the fact that much of the action takes place in the midfield with good quality battling taking place and balls running astray. PES' strength is that gameplay is more reliant on building attacks rather than the end-to-end, ping pong, arcade style more akin to EA's FIFA franchise. Though, it has to be said that commentary (repetitive and rarely accurate), atmosphere and overall presentation style is far better executed by EA, rather than Konami's latest offering, which sadly, much like my own beloved Aston Villa, is currently stuck in the doldrums, lacking imagination, flair, accuracy and guilty of far too many mistakes, that has left them with a heck of a lot of work to do to be the top of the league.

PS3-Era Graphics vs Next Gen Gameplay
I buy Pro Evolution on PC every year, and every year the initial release is something of a disappointment. There hasn't been a pre-release demo for the last few incarnations, probably because Konami would prefer to keep potential buyers in the dark regarding the comparative gulf in graphics and polish between the PC version and PS4. The textures are flat, the lightning is bland, and I've yet to see the advertised dynamic weather system occur in a game. The fact that Metal Gear 5, which is based on the same Fox Engine as this, got a solid port for PC makes this all the more frustrating. The user interface of the menus is as bizarre as ever, but you'll find that on all editions of the game. All that said, this is still the best PES I've played in a long time. Even if the graphics haven't carried over from the PS4 version, the physics have, and that's the most important thing for me. It just feels great: the weight of the ball and player movement is spot-on. The impact of the improved physicality is obvious in how players can tussle for the ball: tackling feels less binary - you can briefly lose the ball and then immediately win it back again if your play is persistent enough. Master League, my favourite mode, is also improved from the bland effort last year. Player roles such as Leader, Star Player, and Legend provide a bit of extra personality to your team, and the transfer negotiation system seems more realistic. Perennial niggles remain, such as the outdated transfer roster, but I expect there will be patches to rectify that soon. I've never played PES for the licenses, anyway. Overall, if you don't have a PS4, I'd still recommend this edition, but if you do have one, the console is the full fat experience.

Gameplay is actually good though big improvement on last edition and still miles ...
1 Star not due to licenses as I have played every PES game since its ISS Pro days and incorrect names and no team badges does not bother me, 1 star due to the total lack of summer transfer window roster updates for example Memphis Depay and Danny Ings were signed by Man Utd and Liverpool before the last premier league season ended and they are not in the line ups, a brief sweep through the other teams and nothing seems updated from last years rosters. Game developers take note if you release a game half finished don't charge people ยฃ40+ 1 star due to the total lack of effort with kit replicas example being Arsenal in orange, Chelsea and Everton in bright Yellow, Liverpool in black. Gameplay is actually good though big improvement on last edition and still miles ahead of Fifa however the two above issues are why its a 1 star review the game was rushed to be released before Fifa. To summarise unless you are happy to do work such at least getting the colours of the kits right and updating the team rosters which the devs should have done in the first place don't buy it, get Fifa which this year is a very good game.
