Holds mulch and rocks perfectly in place”
This product works exactly as described. I used it to keep mulch and small decorative rocks in place, and it made a huge difference. Even after rain and wind, everything stayed neat and secure. It’s easy to apply, dries clear, and doesn’t leave any sticky residue. If you want your landscaping to look clean and low-maintenance, this is definitely worth it. Highly recommended!

I was pleasantly surprised
I was skeptical at purchasing this product solely on the mixed reviews. But I decided to give it a try since doing nothing would have the same results as previous years. Piles of mulch washed into my grass and across my driveway after a heavy downpour. I spread three cubic yards of triple ground brown mulch around all my trees and flower beds. I love this mulch. It spreads easily and covers nicely, but because of its rather small and fine texture, a heavy down pour will remove the mulch from any area where the water collects and runs off. The best way to describe these run off areas are flower beds that are raised and contour down to the lawn. Right at that point is where the rain water collects and washes away the mulch. On most of the flat mulched areas it stays in place. But at those "V" type areas, water runs like a small creek and everything ends up in a pile at the lowest point. I spend four hours raking and sweeping up mulch and redistributing it back over the bare dirt. This is every time after every down pour, all summer long. A little research online brought me to this product. I live in southeastern PA and we just went through about six to eight weeks of no measurable rain so everything was extremely dry. I shook the bottle per directions and dumped one third into my two gallon portable pump sprayer. I did the same with the other two thirds. Pumped up the sprayer and opened up the nozzle to allow for the thicker material to be applied. It reminds me of watered down Elmers Glue. (probably is) I applied it to the areas most prone to be washed off, about twelve inches wide. With everything being so dry, the mulch sucked it in immediately. The coverage looked about the same as pictured on the bottle. I may have went a bit heavier in the more severe problem areas, but I tried to stay consistent to optimize coverage. I noticed it leaves a slight sheen on the mulch when it dries. Probably not that noticeable to anyone who didn't see it being applied. Three days later we had a line of storms roll through that dumped two and a half inches of rain. This would be the test. When I walked the yard, I was pleasantly surprised to find that something like ninety five percent of what I had sprayed stayed in place. Overall I'm pleased with the product. Just make sure you shake/ mix the product well before use and I think the biggie is to make sure the mulch is as dry as possible before application. The directions state that Loc Mulch should dry for twenty four to forty eight hours for best results. I agree. the longer the better.

Great, but…
Update 2 months after application: didn’t hold. Just didn’t. None of it. We used 4 gallons of it and it didn’t hold with the dogs & regular walking. This product would be great for an area that is hardly trafficked & just wanting a clean look all the time. If the area is trafficked at all, and the gravel is more than one layer deep (as it is recommended to be) then it doesn’t hold. This product would be great in a garden for mulch that isn’t walked on as well. Won’t buy again for the same purpose, but if needed for little projects like mulch, maybe. We have a lot of pea gravel we have used in our back patio area. With 2 large dogs, we needed something to keep it off the flagstone pavers. We bought a yard spray bottle for application. This product works great for the most part and in a basic way. It will not adhere all of the rocks together, it will adhere the ones directly hit by the stream of glue. If those are on top of other rocks and get moved, then that clump moves as a whole which can make the situation worse almost. It clogged the sprayer numerous times. We had to use 2 5-gallon buckets for our little backyard and need more still. It is permeable which is nice for water & does a great job at keeping the rocks in tact between the pavers. It does a great basic job, but for the price and the amount needed to complete the project, along with needing reapplication, I’m unsure that it is worth it. For small spaces, it would be great for a quick fix. However, if your gravel is 2” deep, that is 2” deep of gravel that needs coated in order to fully do as advertised which is near impossible.

Perfect hold
Very good product. Used on pea gravel, pond gravel, and wood mulch. I love it. I do however recommend using an electric paint sprayer. The recommended pump sprayers can't handle the thick liquid, they clog pretty quick. I used two different type of pump sprayers initially. I spent more time unclogging the sprayer heads than I sprayed. Until I picked up the paint sprayer. I used the home decor sprayer. Made it quick and easy, and clean up was simple as well.

Does not work on pea gravel that you want to walk on
This product is not worth the cost. I have a 20 x 20 out building with a pea gravel floor. I wanted to secure the stone some way. I looked into polymer products and there are many. I tried "Mulch Glue" first. I prepared the area by rinsing the stones, let dry, then compact them by tamping. The directions suggested using a watering can so I tried that with 1/2 gallon undiluted. It only covered a 3 x 3 area. I changed to a pump sprayer and diluted 20% on the remaining product. Coverage was much better and I was able to cover a 10 x 10 area, but the undiluted was much more solid. I figured I would need much more, so this product was cheaper and came in 5 gallon bucket. The first coat of this product was undiluted and I used 1.75 gallons. This product did not hold very well at all. I then applied 1.75 gallons undiluted on the previous stones that had 1 coat of "Mulch Glue". This did firm up that half of the area. I used the remaining product as a second coat on the second half. After 48 hours this product did not lock very well. In conclusion these products are not usable for the purpose of locking pea gravel that can be walked on. There is another product that is epoxy resin that would probably do a much better job, but that is not a spray on product and requires cleaning the stones, mixing in the epoxy, the spreading with a trowel. I wasted money but lesson learned.

Product is thick and has small chunks in it will clog your sprayer
This product works as far as the glue goes. But it will not work with any sprayer that I can find very hard to applyProduct is thick and has small chunks in it will clog your sprayer. I tried fitting at fifty-fifty with water and stirred and shook it, but it didn't seem to matter. It just clogged the sprayer within about 30 seconds. And I had to just pour it out. Took a long time to dry and wasted a lot of product but it does glue boo the rocks. On my patio fire viewer hard to apply

I prefer this to the heavily-advertised British product that costs 3 times as much!
I had to lock down a large area of gravel (several hundred square feet) placed between paver stones, and found that this compound did the trick at much less cost than the British stuff sold in 5-liter bottles. It looks and appears to work the same, and is thin enough to use with a sprayer which is the best way to apply it other than mixing it with the gravel before it's laid down. I do recommend a good powered sprayer if you're going to do more than a small area at a time (unless you have arms like Popeye). Because I was applying it to existing gravel I opted to spray in place with a heavy saturating coat, and when dry the gravel was slightly darker but looked good and it was firmly locked in place and walkable. I added additional gravel to fill gaps and low spots, smoothed it out and sprayed again and the final result looks and feels like it will last a long time. It goes on quickly enough that an annual refresher shouldn't be a problem, if needed. I wouldn't use this (or the other product) for a driveway but for my application it did the trick!

This stuff works.
I bought this to stop the rain from washing my mulch onto the sidewalk. And it works! Mulch stays in place. I’ve even used my leaf blower to remove leaves and grass without a problem. It goes on white but dries clear. It is a bit shiny but I probably applied too much.
