The best Tom and Jerry book
I found this book in a bookstore in La Jolla in 1992, and then and now I think that is a wonderful book. Patrick Brion tells the story of this cartoon in a manner that is authoritative and down to earth. It shows what a lot of people think: These cartoon series are the best and show the extraordinaire way the cartoonists draw it in the 40's. When you compare these series with the same Tom and Jerry's of the 60's you feel that something is lost. In any case is the only book with a complete information about ALL the cartoons. If you love Tom and Jerry, you have to have it.

Best book on Tom and Jerry
I saw this on bookshelves when it first came out, when I was working in animation and needed some reference on '40s-'50s cartoon design. A few of the images seemed to me at the time to be distorted, stretched out vertically, so I wouldn't buy it. But they were just direct reproductions of cinemascope frames without the anamorphic lens! Now it's out of print! It's the definitive collection of the best cartoon designs ever.

A richly illustrated overview of all theatrical Tom & Jerry cartoons
A nice and beautifully illustrated reference book to all Tom & Jerry's theatrical shorts - infinitely more satisfying than the disappointing 'Tom & Jerry: 50 Years of Cat & Mouse'. Expect no deep analysis, however - this book focuses on the films and their plots themselves. An extra nice touch is the mention of the music used in each cartoon.

Fantastic history of the best cartoons
I have loved Tom and Jerry since I was a kid fifty years ago, so to find this fantastic guide to every one of their adventures was just so wonderful. Good amount of detail of each cartoon, film frames, storyboard sketches, plus biogs of all the main players, Quimby, Barbera, Hanna etc. It even covers the later dubious offerings, although thankfully (imho) not in as much detail as the earlier ones. Good size to really show off the artwork too! This is THE book for fans!
