A professional DJ's opinion
Read some of the other reviews here, written by people who received this product from Amazon for free, who do not seem to know a whole lot about DJ hardware and what to expect from it. I am a professional DJ, and I'd like to give my two cents. I bought this controller just for fun to see how it is. I wasn't sure what to expect from it, but I was beyond pleasantly surprised. This controller comes with Serato DJ Lite, which another reviewer complained about because of the cost associated with upgrading to DJ Pro, and questioned the trustworthiness of Serato. I can assure you that Serato DJ Pro is extremely widely used and respected by pros, and although Lite has limited features and promotes upgrading to Pro, it is still very good software and its shortcomings shouldn't reflect negatively on the controller itself; especially since a Pro license is only $100, which, assuming you already have a laptop, makes your total investment $180 - an extremely reasonable price for a functioning DJ setup, seeing as a single Pioneer CDJ can cost 10x that. Anyway, upon getting the Starlight in the mail, I immediately plugged it in and got to some mixing. The knobs and pitch faders feel very high quality, not too far short of what you'd have on a much more expensive controller. The quality of the audio output is pretty good as well, not superb but no worse than an average smartphone's headphone jack. I saw other reviewers complaining about the inability to connect Bluetooth headphones; this is not a valid complaint, I have never known of any piece of DJ gear with Bluetooth output, mainly due to the lag and quality limitations of Bluetooth audio. I suppose the last thing to address would be the LED lighting, which is certainly corny, but it's a fun touch and I see how it could appeal to new and/or very young DJs. Overall I would recommend this product to anyone looking to try out DJing or to give to their children to do so (assuming they have access to a Windows or Mac laptop). Remember when buying any DJ or audio gear to take online reviews with a grain of salt. Some people don't know enough to judge whether a product is good or bad, but review it anyway, resulting in uninformed and unwarranted praise or criticism. There are lots of good websites to ask questions and inform yourself!

wow... love this thing
this is honestly everything I need in a controller. super portable, I've used it from planes to trains to stadiums to more. if you use it with a bluetooth set of cans it only needs a single wire. or you can wire it in for great latency control. limitations... there aren't that many knobs and they all do a limited set of things. if you are comfortable remapping that's not an issue, you'll basically be mixing with 6 software knobs (with toggle), a crossfader, and plenty of buttons. that's more than enough for me. also two decks only, duh. lastly, the sound card isn't great quality (as expected for the price), and if your laptop is plugged into a noisy ground or DC that will translate, especially under high amplification. I still use it and find no issues, but this isn't a $1000 mixer. it also feels a little cheap/plasticy, which might turn some people off. I don't care, because it does the job. the pros of the knobs is they are *very sensitive*... micro-movements translate extremely well which gives you lots of control. the crossfader is also surprisingly smooth and bouncy for the price, again don't expect a $1000 scratching crossfader but you can actually scratch on this thing without much effort. upsides... you can mix anywhere. and if you can sound good on this thing, moving to any other controller is ez mode. it's very compatible with a wide range of software, including my favorite the open source Mixxx. It's on the wired midi standard so should be good for many many many years to come. tldr buy this thing.

Cumple con lo ofrecido. Para ser tan económica, se siente fina. Igualmente, tener en cuenta que todo es plástico.

Best compact controller I’ve used.
This is the controller I use for a sound system that is professional and 100% battery powered. Controller is compact, reliable, and very easy transition from my full size controller.

All you really need for a traveling DJ
Super easy to use and the perfect travel size for those DJs who get out into the world. So many features that are critical and some fun tweaks if you play around. I’ve had no problems using this for over 40 hours in the past two years. I would and do recommend this controller to many people, especially when they ask about what I’m using to DJ. It’s paired with an Apple AV adapter for USB-A and an iPad using djay Pro.

My favorite backpack style controller.
This controller has one amazing option that the other guy doesn't have - the ability to turn scratch mode OFF! This is a mixing DJ beast for Serato DJ - and I can get it down to 1ms delay (MacBook Pro M2). Keep in mind, no mic on this controller - so if you need that, go get something else. Already have been pulling off amazing DJ blends (less bells is more guys - 25 years of DJ experience) - this is such an underrated piece of hardware. And it's super cheap! I might buy another! Great job, Hercules!

A nice little thing to have
I've got a Pioneer DDJ-400 and XDJ-R1 available to use but very much wanted something that would comfortably fit on my desk along with all the other crap on it. It has just enough functionality for my purposes including bass/filter knobs which Numark's competing product doesn't have. Feels pretty well built and is definitely the most portable. Would have been nice to find something similar with rekordbox unlock included but Pioneer won't provide even at an inflated price point. Works well with Mixxx on Linux which I like. Only true con is the mini-USB connection which is known to have a terrible MTBF for insertions.

DJing is so fun!
Omg. I’m having such a fun time with this thing. I’m almost ready to take gigs. If you’ve been thinking about getting it, get it. Seriously.

Generally good start for any beginner. Control buttons are a little too hard. Feels cheap to press especially doing dj effects and hitting them while following current song beats. Using USB link, both DJuced & Serato works well. Somehow Serato lite laggs when playing beat match on Windows11. Play button tend to lagg behind Master audio. DJuced works well and a lot more features. Good budget set, portable and it does the job well.

pros: size/weight functionality with traktor / serato great device for $100 CAD or under great features works with traktor (Hercules provides a official .TSI for both v2 and v3) features a 4 channel sound card output for main / headphones headphone output is loud filter knobs are a nice touch rgb led lights are a nice touch and I like how they can be turned off works with free software like Serato lite out of the box (however it's very limited) midi control has a shift function for more mapping ability cons: fx options are very basic but it's not a deal breaker would have liked to see a switch with the treble / gain knob like the bass / filter but what can you do the main output can have a buzzing noise when silent at high volumes depending on the computer it's attached to (tried several shielded and high end cords would get a little buzz on my desktop if my amp was right at max and nothing was playing however it's fine on my laptop I have to think that's something to do with the quality of the usb or power on my desktop) no RCA out just 3.5mm again not a deal breaker ( the audio quality is comparable to a iPhone with a dongle 3.5mm audio imo... not great but not bad ... it's asio for under $100 can't complain ) overall the cons I list really aren't cons just a matter of design but for the price it's a cool device I can carry around with me anywhere my only wish is it would somehow be supported in android but I tried with cross dj and it couldn't detect it , did however output sound .. not a whole lot of dj options on android unfortunately but maybe there is something for iOS , that would sure make this thing cool for carrying around

Pequena e funcional. Ideal para quem precisa tocar em ambientes com pouco espaço para controladoras maiores.

okay so to make this into a smaller controller they had to strip some features, the most annoying thing is you don't have a cue mix knob, basically you have to hit shift to hear the left cue, the right cue, or shift to hear both plus the mix at the same time. this took some getting used to because you can't rapidly listen to all 3 channels at once to make sure your cue'd track is phrasing correctly into the outward mix. some dj's take their headphones off and listen to the monitors outside to hear their new song coming in, but i don't do this because it screws up the phrasing. this might not be an issue for every dj but i normally use the ddjsb3 which has the cue mix knob so i can rapidly switch and hear my new song coming in. other than that, the 4 cue point buttons, autoloop, are exactly the same as the serato larger controllers. there is no scroll select button but this made me actually just start using my keyboard cuz it's actually faster anyways so i think that was a decision by hercules. another weird thing is you have to make sure after you use the high low pass filter that you bring it back to the center or it'll cut your song and make it sound lofi, it took me a while to realize why all my songs sounded weird. this could be a bug. overall the controller is not perfect, I understand why people upgrade to the 300+ dollar ones to get more controls like having a mid volume fader instead of just a giant volume knob that will fade all your frequencies including the bass. I would still prefer to mix on a proper controller vs this. you can survive a party with this but the only situation i would use this on would be travel. if i could fit my ddj sb3 into my suitcase i would much prefer to use that because it gives you everything you need to mix more cleanly. i dj'd for 4 hours yesterday using this controller, maybe i'll get more used to it in the future i just don't think it has as many controllable options as the larger controllers. dj serato lite is okay it doesn't let you record or change your layout but it still retains your library. for parties in my city i'll still use my big controller, for travelling only ill use the starlight but i know i'm playing at a bit of a handicap not even having access to the other frequency knobs. i'd actually recommend to newer users to buy the 300 dollar controllers just so they can learn to mix on a more standard interface instead of this. i'm considering buying the akai instead.
