I have found this to be very potent and effective as a rodent deterrent
update: i just received my third or probably fourth bottle of this peppermint oil, and this time it doesn't appear to be as strong. it doesn't offend my nose if i get too close. i have placed soaked samples from this bottle and the last bottle (as a comparison) on vinyl sheeting to see if either or both reacts, i.e., start to dissolve the plastic, which has happened with this product in the past. thing is with essential oils, at any time the manufacturer can start cutting the supposedly uncut oil. i tried to contact the manufacturer and didn't see a path to do it. if there is no reaction to the 12 gauge plastic by tomorrow, i'll post it and lower the stars. if there is a strong reaction to the plastic, i'll remove this update and/or keep the stars at 5. i'm using this to keep mice out of an empty house, had tried several brands of supposedly uncut peppermint oil until i found this one. the original review remains below. i have found this to be very potent and effective as a rodent deterrent. I have compared several different products, and this one has been the strongest. When I put a cotton ball soaked with this on a plastic tablecloth it starts to disintegrate the plastic right away. The smell sticks around a long time. My mom's car is sitting without being started in our driveway, and we live on a mountain. I put a large cotton ball soaked with this underneath her hood on a metal piece that covers the air filter. You can smell that peppermint in her driveway without opening the hood and when the hood is open there are no animal signs. It's probably protecting the vehicle right next to hers as well. Then I read about adding a mix of peppermint essential oil and water and maybe some lemon essential oil to diatomaceous earth, and mixing it into a paste, because the diatomaceous earth holds on to the scent longer, and you can revive when needed by moistening it and adding a little bit more essential oil. I made that mixture this morning with this peppermint essential oil and took it around my moms house to leave a little gift of hospitality to rodent holes any place I could find that they could get under the house or where they had dug a hole. When you hear and read that peppermint oil doesn't work for rodents, I am convinced it's because there's a lot crap out there sold as pure uncut peppermint oil. Granted this is in plastic, so I will not cook with it. But I just got it to offend mice and spiders and flies. wasps, bees, unwelcome critters generally. your moms house is empty. Otherwise I wouldn't fill it with the scent of peppermint. I have peppermint balls and now little lumps of this diatomaceous earth with peppermint all over the house sitting on glass saucers to fill the scent of the house with peppermint. This way, we don't have to kill things; we just cause them to not want to be in the space. did I say that I had to try several brands to find a strong one like this? I think Now is pretty good, and it comes in glass, but it's more expensive. I'm not sure if it used to be or if it went up with Covid. If I was going to cook with it AND use it as a rodent deterrent, I would buy the Now brand.

Big bottle peppermint essential oil for daily diffusion and DIY blends
I bought this peppermint essential oil to have a pure mint scent for diffusing and a few simple DIY blends around the house. The 16 oz size was a big plus because I go through peppermint oil for cleaning tasks and quick scent refreshes, and I wanted something that would last. It is described as 100% pure, natural and uncut from Mentha arvensis, which matches what I was after. The plastic jug with a child resistant cap feels sturdy and convenient to use. In everyday use I drop a few drops into my diffuser and the room fills with a bright mint aroma with a warm menthol edge. The oil is thin enough to measure easily and it blends well with other oils like lavender or lemon when I am making a light diffuser blend or a fresh spray. What stood out is how clean and long lasting the scent is even in small amounts, and how versatile it is for making room scents and simple blends. The packaging and eco friendly approach are nice touches, and the idea of a larger bottle means fewer reorders. The fact that it is uncut and pure gives me confidence in the quality. One small note is that peppermint can be strong, so I start with just a drop or two to avoid overpowering the space and I learn the right dilution. There is a light learning curve with safe uses, but it is easy to pick up. Overall I am very satisfied with this oil; it has become a reliable staple for everyday mint scent and DIY blends.

Peppermint rodent repellent
I use this product for my garage and my RV to keep rodents away. It is very strong smelling peppermint that seems to repel mice so far I have had no mice in my RV or garage. I did additionally use it in my truck under the hood, so mice wouldn’t Build a nest in my truck. It was too strong of a scent when I would drive the truck so I stopped.

Works Great! Pricey though.
I love this stuff. I have three dogs, so using insecticides is always a concern. This works great and no concerns. In fact, because the mailbox pee-mail from neighbor dogs gets a bit too plentiful, I spray around it weekly and they leave it alone. Around the doors and windows is another good place to spray, and it seems to keep flies at bay and smells good. Mosquitoes hate it, I like it! I have a rocky area, which gives critters some privacy to breed. Not anymore, they hate the peppermint so much that they move on - quickly. It does need to be sprayed weekly, to stay at maximum effectiveness, but you don’t need to spray a lot. My sole con is the price, which feels about $5-$6 too high. I only use it seasonally now, because it wouldn’t be cost effective to order as much as I would like to use.

As described, perfect for our need

Purchased this to use as an anti-mouse/rodent device in vehicles stored over the winter. The product is very strong/concentrated and should do the job. Much more economical than buying the tiny amounts typically sold at pharmacies or health food stores.
