Premium Scissors Heavy Duty Spring Loaded Stainless Steel Kitchen Poultry and Bone Shears

We all have that typical set of knifes that come with a pair of kitchen sheers that are supposed to be able to be used to cut through and help you prepare whole poultry from turkey, duck to chickens. I have found they never really work and while I have a cleaver they are messy to use since you need to use a hacking motion to be able to get a proper cut, especially when dealing with poultry or pork bones. I decided it was time to end the struggle and get myself a new pair of sheers. I wasn’t not expecting what I got at all. This is an impressive set of chef quality sheers that makes quick and easy work of breaking down poultry and pork. They arrive in a beautiful box with cutout foam to keep them nice and safe and I would recommend keeping them stored in that box so that people do not pick them up to open packages or other things. The blades on these sheers are super sharp and angled in such a way that it makes it very easy to cut through the back and breast bone of a chicken. The handle is good and sturdy and you do not need to apply a ton of pressure to get a nice clean cut. What I like is the cut is so clean you do not need to worry about the bones getting splinters in it which can be dangerous if consumed. These are excellent sheers that any home cook or chef would love to have. I do not know how long I will need to wait to have them sharpened but I plan on sending them out to a professional to have them sharpened if and when it is needed. This is a well deserved five star product and then some.

Great Scissors. I got it for cutting meat and bones for RAW feeding my pets. It definitely works really, really well with the meat and muscle. Cuts through bone on chickens too. The ONLY issue I have with it is if your hands are small it will be difficult to work. My hands are not small and I have some trouble with it. My hubby has no problem at all.

I bought this to replace a heavy duty set of scissors that was a spring loaded two piece unit that was terrible. The unit was always coming apart during use and the spring got bent and worked poorly. This unit is great. It is a one piece set up that does not come apart. I really like this feature. Due to the way it is designed it is easy to completely clean. I locks together for storage and comes in a pretty nice box that I use for storage. I use it to process chicken and it works very well for this purpose. I have not tried it on turkey which is something I don't make very often. The quality of construction appears very good so I am assuming this will be with me for some time. I can't detect any flaws with this unit.

I had high hopes for this product but they did not come true. I found that the spring loaded center makes it very difficult to grab a hold of the handles. You have to reach very far to grab both handles at the same time. This is particularly difficult if your hands are greasy with raw chicken. I also was unable to cut a bone easily with the scissors even at the notch. I ended up having to prop the scissors up on a cutting board and get the bone into the notch and then strike one of the legs of the scissors with my fist to get it to cut through the chicken leg bone. Disappointing!

Over years of moving many items have gone astray. I find, too, that viisitors to household, helping out in kitchen, use my flower shearers for meat prep and more. I finally decided to replace the long-missing. Yes, it performs the same tasks. Note on Amazon, espeically the clasp at the bottom that enables you to store it flat in drawer. The HUGE surprise was the fitted case it came in. The photo of case doesn't have do it justice. The scissors are not inexpensive - they might even be passed down. They won't rust, won't break, come apart for easy cleaning. But, if you like to open an orderly drawer and see a beautiful box, tempting, with a handsome logo (I dislike logos and have some graphic experience.) This is as handsome and integrated as any could be. If you're not a vegan, and want easily to cut through bone, what a lovely gift to yourself or a daughter married to a meat and potatoes kind of guy.

I sooo wanted to like these scissors. I had high hopes that they would cut through salmon head bones since the OXO poultry shears which do the job beautifully have a thin flat metal spring as their weak point which tends to break. These Gemere scissors are made for large hands. I found it hard to get them to cut because I had to use my fingertips to apply pressure, the gape is too large for medium size hands. In addition there is no bevel at the handles to keep them from sliding down towards greasy blades, so as your hands get greasy they slip on the smooth texture of these scissors. Several times the scissors would flip 90 degrees while I was applying cutting pressure and one time I missed cutting off my finger by just a few millimeters. Last but not least, the scissors failed miserably with fish skin which has a similar rubbery consistency as chicken skin. My set's blades were too dull to even start to cut through. For the above reasons I judge these scissors to be potentially very dangerous. This is a crying shame since they feel heavy in the hand and seem to be solidly constructed. They do not come apart for washing, so there is a potential for goop buildup which could make them sticky when cutting in the future. I hope that Gemere sees this review and revisits their drawing board.

If your looking for a pair of kitchen scissors You can stop looking! These are Awesome!! They can cut anything as easy as butter... cardboard, chicken bones, etc. Everyone should own a pair of these. Their also sturdy & very durable. They feel like high end scissors but for a reasonable price!

These are probably the best scissors I own. They cut through vacuum sealed containers with ease and work well against other common day items such as boxes from Amazon or human proof packaging that isn't perforated. I would suggest getting one for each room so you don't have to roam around the house/apartment/dungeon if you can't find them.
