After screwing it in the diverter valve actuator got a lot stiffer an its stiffer than the old unit. If you are buying this be aware that it uses a threaded fitting it is not a slip on unit. It accommodates either 0.5" or 3/4" ips pipe fittings via the supplied adapter a 3/4" threaded pipe actually measures approx 1" over the threads if you are checking the mounting. It is important the pipe stub sticking out from the wall be much shorter than that required for a slide on unit. Eyeballing mine it stuck out about 1/2" or maybe a little more
