The Treasury of David (3 Volumes Set) [Spurgeon, C. H.] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Treasury of David (3 Volumes Set) Review: These books are classics, as Spurgeon delves into the Psalms relative to the current day. - I have read the Scriptures for years, but these commentaries leave us breathless as we grasp what the Psalms are really saying. They are rich and profound with insight into the rest of the Scriptures, the future times, the heart of a true believer, and the day-to-day emotions of this life. These commentaries may have been written in the Victorian era, but are well-worth sorting out what Spurgeon is saying into modern English. They leave us with meaty kernals that stick in the mind of the reader long after we lay the books aside. Review: Invaluable Study Guide For the Psalms - After reading the Bible through for the third time, I felt the need to go more in depth in my study of God's word. Thanks to one of my elders who is currently working through the Psalms as a daily meditation, I decided to do the same. The selection of Spurgeon's Treasury of David as a study guide was a natural, as I have long enjoyed reading his sermons. Each psalm is treated seperately (sic), facilitating study on a day-by-day basis. Spurgeon uses commonly accepted divisions of each psalm so that each section is more easily absorbed and understood in the context of the whole. I have found Treasury of David to be extremely helpful in fostering a deeper understanding of this vital portion of scripture which speaks to the Christian's prayer life.

I was so glad I found a hard back version.

The Prince of preachers was also a most thorough teacher
When it comes to commentaries on the Psalms, you couldn't do better than this one. Spurgeon gives a treasury of savoury truths on every psalm: not only his own excellent comments, but a gathering of the best remarks from others as well.

a must
This is a must for those who love the Psalms, but have had trouble understanding some of them. The exposition of Mr. Spurgeon on each of the 150 psalms are highly helpful. The section where he has the quotes from a wide assortment of authors are sometimes very helpful. He included many who he did not agree with, showing his fairness to display views very contrary to his own. This would make a great gift for the student of the Bible or for your pastor, if he does not have it already!!

I bought used books and they are in fantastic shape
It will take me several years to thoughtfully study the insights these books give. But I expect it to be a great blessing and journey in my life. One I didn’t anticipate to take, or where it will lead. God will let me know at the at His time. God bless and thank you.

Tremendous Resource
Treasury of David is a wonderful resource if you are planning on doing any preaching from the Psalms. The genius of this work is not only Spurgeon's commentary on the Psalms, which in itself is excellent, but for each Psalm Spurgeon has included a wealth of quotations from other authors which he studied in putting the commentary together, including Martin Luther, Calvin, Augustine, Baxter... and countless others. The reason for not giving this a 5 star rating is that there are some publishing issues with it. For instance in the middle of the 51st Psalm there is a page that should be in the 25th Psalm commentary. This proved to be an annoyance, because the page that was supposed to be there was missing altogether. This is the only instance I have come across, but it is hard to believe there are not more. All in all, I recommend this book highly, and do not think any buyer would be disappointed the purchase.

My thoughts on THE TREASURE OF DAVID (3 vol. set)
This is way more than I'd hoped for. Spurgeon seems to let you peer into the heart of the man after God's own heart and lets you see why this statement is true. It's surprisingly easy to read, smooth navigation. I'd recommend this for Pastors, teachers, and laymen. I bought these because I noticed there were so many Messianic Psalms and I didn't want to miss any. This material exceeds all my expectations with outlines and commentaries on the entire book of Psalms.

This is a wonderful collection - recommended by Justin Peters and sits on his theological bookshelf!

Its just great having such profound perceptions on hand and neatly fitting on my book shelf.. I really like the way that Spurgeon has at the end of psalm quoted around 4 or 5 sometimes more opinions from other Biblical commentators. Its obvious to me that in these psalm commentaries I'm benefiting from gold that Spurgeon laboriously mined. the fact that the copies are hard backed makes them nice to handle. The script is quite..slightly smaller than this however it surprises me how clear it is to read. The paper has almost a slippy quality which makes the pages easy to turn.. You can tell I like it It was carefully packaged from the seller and speedily delivered

"Pregai o Evangelho", veja nosso canal no Youtube.

This is an amazing collection of the great Spurgeon analysing verse by verse all the psalms of the Bible! This, already in itself, it's a gem! But moreover, Spurgeon added a good quantity of the notes of the research he had himself done through a wealth of different theologians and preachers' views on the psalms throughout centuries before his time (overall but also verse by verse). Therefore, with this collection, you have access to documents from even the XVIIth century! Reading comments on a verse of the Psalm of Spurgeon is already a privilege, but to add to this the opportunity to check and ponder on what they thought about this psalms as far back as 1627, it is truly incredible! Probably many of the books he quotes are of very hard access now (he mentions how he even researched old books in the British Museum)... So do take the opportunity to add such a well of knowledge to your library, because it is truly inspiring! The only setback is the edition, which the printing unfortunately is far from perfect (or maybe was the copy I got). Still, I love my set, but I only wonder about how amazing older editions of this book might have been! A MUST for every Christian whose "...delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law meditate day and night".

C H Spurgeon's 'commentary' on the Psalms has rightly been recognized as one of the best in its own category. Along with his own comments and expositions, Spurgeon has also included a wealth of other authors' works that he himself has gleaned - all of which make this 3 volume set excellent and worth the reading. The only 'complaint' I might have is that Hendrickson Publishers have not used good quality paper; paper is rather thin and the printing is 'photocopied' - this means that the print is a 'reprint' and not typeset freshly. This definitely shows. To make matters worse, often the printing fades off in bits and portions. Althought I must say, there are no places where you cannot read the print - at least I've not come across any such page or portion. The other issue is that the binding is 'perfect' which means that the pages are all glued; they are not stitched or sewn. Therefore the binding won't last for too long, given the fact that the volumes will be used constantly and frequently. But the volumes are still a definite 'worth it' edition. I'd highly recommend the set.
