Every Last Lie: A Thrilling Suspense Novel from the author of Local Woman Missing Review: Highly recommend - Great read! Not only was the shipping quick, the book arrived in perfect condition! This book and author are addictive! I highly recommend this seller (as well as the book). Review: 3.5 Pretty Little Stars - Okay. This book is hard for me to rate because while I did like it, it was much different than I had anticipated when I purchased it. First and foremost, this book is described as a psychological suspense novel. True, it is suspenseful. Readers don't know "who-dun-it" or if there was really anything sinister going on. However, once we get to the end the genre seems... not quite right? For many, this will please you. I sure as hell liked how everything turned out. But, a lot of people are not going to like the ending. I really can't say much more about that otherwise the entire story would be ruined. So just be warned that this roller-coaster of a book is going to turn out much different than you anticipate when going in. In terms of the story line, I liked it. I liked how the author used a lot of suspense leading up to the truth and then throwing her readers a major curve ball. This was an unexpected surprise that left me feeling satisfied, a little sad, but overall pleased because it's unique. The buildup though is rather dull, and I found that much of the story was pretty depressing. This has to do with the heroine's husbands death and while the subject matter would be depressing for many, it does come off a bit boring. Especially because the entire story is within the heroine's POV and we constantly hear about her feelings, her lack of interest in anything, and so forth. The characters are well written and make sense for the overall story, but readers will have a hard time connecting until everything comes together. And then BAM. The book is over. This can ultimately leave many feeling dissatisfied. I however, didn't mind it. Although I wish things were a bit brighter and less depressing as a whole. The ending: I have seen many reviews saying that HATED the ending. For me though, I liked it. It's unique, unexpected, and satisfying. Sure, it becomes a bit rushed towards the end and there are a few loopholes that will amp readers up and then shut them right down, BUT, the atmosphere is perfect. With that, my rating has fluctuated between 3 and 4 stars so I am going to give it 3.5 stars and round it to 4 because I was engrossed in the story. I would recommend it to those who like twisty psychological novels of suspense, but I am also going to warn readers to expect the unexpected.

Not my favorite
Local woman missing is one of my all time favorite books so I had high hopes for this book. I was very disappointed. Mid way through I thought about quitting but decided to power through thinking it may get better. It did not. The main character, Clara was dull and overly dramatic in a childish way that made it nearly impossible to connect to her character and the more interesting story line of her husband, fell flat in the end. Overall, I felt that there was very little plot and a lack of twists to keep a readers attention.

Emotional rollercoaster
The most emotional thriller I’ve read yet. The ending wrecked me. WRECKED ME. I’m in Starbucks sobbing! How dare Mary Kubica write such a good emotional ending. Lol 😭😭😭

Good story
This was a good story. However, I felt like there was far too much detail. Detail is good in all stories but it can be overdone.

I really wanted to like it, but it fell very, very flat
I really wanted to like this book. I've read several of the author's books and really enjoyed them. This one, not so much. The premise of the book was good. The whole time I'm wondering who it could have been to cause Nick to wreck. Who is the "bad man" in the black car? I liked the alternating views of each chapter and how they are set up in present day Clara, past day Nick, and how they met up at the end. But that was about the only thing I liked about this book. I had to look up when the publishing date was because I could tell from reading this author's other books that this wasn't her best work and must be from the beginning of her career. I was right. If you're a Friends fan, you'll remember when Joey wrote a recommendation for Monica and Chandler when they were applying for adoption. Joey used a thesaurus on every word to make himself sound smart. This is what it looked like the author did here. Every two or three pages there was a word I'd never heard of or had to look up. It irritated me so much that I started highlighting them. (Here are some examples: obdurate, prosaically, abrades, mollify, ungainly, daffy, avaricious, dolor, arborvitae, circuitous, capriciously, stultified, etc.) It really broke up the flow of the book for me. There was just no need for these big words in this storyline. They just didn't fit. Character development could have been a bit better. The ending though. WHAT IN THE WORLD?!? It had soooo much potential to be a huge surprise twist, but man she dropped the ball. And what even was the whole Izzy thing? That was the most ridiculous part of this book. So many red herrings that were just big nothing bombs. I still plan to read the author's other books as I loved Local Woman Missing, and She's Not Sorry. I just hope they're better than this one!!

I look forward to each of Mary Kubica's novels with great anticipation. This one was no exception. Fast-paced, attention holding right until the end. The characters are totally relatable and I found myself agonising along with Clara as she struggles to make sense of her husband's tragic death. Thoroughly recommended

It takes me a few chapters to get into it, but once I get a feel for the story I am hooked. The characters are so detailed you can't help but get caught up. I have already purchased the next ..

Ms. Kubica weaves a good story that is both easy to get engrossed in and satisfying to read. If you enjoy a good thriller, it's worth a picking up.
