This one actually works – here’s how to do it!
I bought this Watch Repair Demagnetizer Tool as a second hope for fixing my recently purchased, magnetized automatic mechanical watch, which is typically running extra fast as a result. I had checked all my other watches and this one was the only watch that was magnetized. I believe it arrived in the mail like that..The first demagnetizer/degausser I bought, the white one with the hole through it, didn’t work out of the box. It lit up the red light but that was all it did. It also looked heavily used. This blue one is the only other degausser available at Amazon at a reasonable price, and it's less than half the price of the white one. It comes from the same factory in China no matter which supplier you choose, just like the white ones do. So, I went with the first one that came up in my search with 2-day shipping. On arrival, it looked to be in a New condition. Good start!.If, and once, you manage to uncoil the power lead (!), there are actually zero included instructions on how to use it. YT is your best tutor here but I’ll explain. There is an alternating magnetic field created by the windings inside the box. Put the degausser on your ear and you should hear a faint hum when the button is pressed. If not, it’s a dead one! When you place a magnetized item near the pad on the upper surface of the degausser, the item will vibrate as the device’s alternating magnetic field pulls and pushes on the metal. This alternating field makes the magnetized item switch its magnetism many times a second. If you could shut off the device at the exact point the magnetic field switches from North to South, you’d demagnetize the item. However, you can’t be so precise. There’s another approach, fortunately. The strength of the hemispherical magnetic field reduces with distance until it’s effectively zero. So, if you move the item away from the blue box, the cyclic magnetizing effect also fades until it’s essentially zero. If you pull the item away quickly, the applied magnetic field doesn’t have time to fully decay in the item and whatever the last significant polarity of magnetic field influencing the item was, the item will retain that. Residual magnetism is not what you wanted! However, if you slowly pull the item away from the degausser, the magnetic field it creates weakens slowly around the magnetized item, and the item will essentially be given a weaker and weaker magnetism until, out of the influence of the degausser, it has essentially negligible magnetism..So, to demagnetize your watch, hold the watch by the strap/bracelet so the watch face or back is just off, and above, the blue plastic, above the rectangular, marked ‘pad’. With your other hand, press the button and the red light will illuminate. Hold the watch in that position for about 10 seconds, and then very slowly start to lift the watch and move it SLOWLY away from the blue box until it’s at arm’s length directly above it. Let go of the button. Do this a couple times and your watch will be demagnetized..I used my phone to check for the presence of magnetism using an Android app called ‘Magnetometer’. I did first try using a small compass. However, even placing a large, unmagnetized metal object near a compass can deflect the compass needle, confusing the observation. I opted for the more sensitive phone’s sensor. It’s more obvious that something is magnetized with the app.Move the back of your phone over a known magnetized item until the app readings go crazy, turn red and the phone vibrates, then you know where the sensor is located in the phone. Use that point to move closely around your watch. On my Pixel 6a, that was at the lower left back corner, if I remember correctly. I had a ‘red’ high reading around 180 before degaussing, at the 6 o’clock position of my watch face, and after, around 50. 40 to 55 was the average ambient reading in my home..I did actually first check the degausser and its effectiveness on a small screwdriver, which I had magnetized. I preferred to initially test that rather than my expensive watch! The app was up in the 1500 range prior to using the blue box. Definitely magnetized!! After several attempts, I managed to get the reading down to about 94, consistent after the first try. So, I knew the blue box had worked. I couldn’t get down to the ambient 50 but the screwdriver no longer picked up a small screw. I was happy and proceeded to degauss my watch, with the desired result..I am very happy that I’ve been able to fix my watch. I’m hoping the next time I use the degausser, it still works. I will update this review accordingly. However, as of now, I’m happy that the fix worked and only cost me about $10. 😊.I can recommend you try this one and forget the more expensive white one!

AMAZING! OUTSTANDING!
Purchased this to demagnetize my watch maker/watch repair screwdrivers. I've had many passive demagnetizers and none of them work very well at all. This electric one worked so amazingly well that I cursed out loud at all the money I spent on those passive orange block 'pocket demagnetizers.'Set the screwdriver on the block, push and hold the button, and slowly raise the screw screwdriver about 10 or 12 inches above the block. That's it! For half of my screwdrivers, it only took one time to demagnetize them, but for three of them, it took three passes over the blue box. No big deal. This was a piece of cake and a game changer for my very very very tiny watch screws.

It totally worked
Recently, I found that one of the watches that I enjoyed wearing the most was running fast and gaining a noticeable and annoying amount of time every day. It got to the point that even though I liked the style and the comfort of the watch, I just wouldnt wear it. I watched a few videos on why this might be and I figured that I would try to demagentize it so see if that would help the watch keep time better. So I got this and tried it out in conjunction with an app on my phone that was supposed to detect magnetic field. The app absolutely reported that the watch was magnetic, so I felt I was on the right track. I tried the demagnetizer resting the watch on the device, pressing the button, waiting and slowly moving the watch away from the device. Then I tested it with the app... No change.... So I did it again. Nothing. A few more times with the watch in different orientations and for different durations. The app was reporting changes, but it was up and down a bit, but still very much detecting as magnetized. I was very dissappointed. I wound the watch. Set the time and left it on the desk. I day later, the watch was still running and the time was correct! I was amazed. I put the watch on, and wore it for another day. The time was correct even a day later. So it worked to make my watch run correctly. Im very pleased. The device itself is very basic with just a button and a led. If you press the button, you might hear some spinning, like a little motor. If you move the watch around while the button is pressed you might feel some magnetic pull. Beyond that here is no indication that the device is doing anything.

I Had My Doubts, but This Works.
My new-ish automatic mechanical was 2 to 3 minutes fast out of the box. I was hoping not to have to open the case to adjust the speed, and even though I live in a big city, finding a watch shop that would look at it would be a challenge, not to mention cost money I didn't have. After doing a little reading it looked like my watch's problem was most likely magnetization, not an improperly-adjusted spring. I confirmed this with an iPhone app. This tool, which looks like all the others, seemed promising, but to be honest, I had my doubts. I read a couple short articles, and one said before you used it you had to wait until the watch stopped running, which meant a 3 day wait, the others said no wait was needed. I crossed my fingers, plugged it in, and let it do its work, which takes 5 seconds. I did it a second time for good luck. What do you know, after a couple hours I could tell it was no longer running fast, and a few days later it's been keeping perfect time. Quick, easy, inexpensive, and recommended.

May ruin your watch!
Does not demagnetize at all. Motor runs but after 3 separate sessions the watch still has a magnetic field. Absolutely useless

It works, but be cautious using on watch.
I used this to demagnatize a watch that was running slow by 20 min a day. I did this using videos as a reference. I placed the watch on the device and pressed the button. To my surprise the watch hands started spinning wildly. The second hand came of whatever it was mounted to! The watch is useless now. However the watch was useless before my attempt. This was a last-ditch effort as I did not want to take it to watch repair store and be charged half of what the watch was worth.I demagnetized several screwdrivers just see if it worked properly and it did. So I did not feel that it was right to send it back, when it was doing when it was supposed to do. However I cannot rate it highly and I would be very careful using it for watch repair.

Works
I took my quartz watch apart and found that the individual metal parts were magnetized as evidenced by their influence on a compass needle. I used this tool to demagnetize each part individually as well as the collective parts that still remained in the housing. Their influence on the compass needle was either eliminated or greatly reduced after the demagnetization procedure, which I repeated several times for maximum benefit. I did not verify whether a fully assembled watch would be demagnetized, but I assume it would, but maybe not to the degree that my individual parts were.

It worked! Slowed down my fast watch.
This thing fixed my super fast Seiko watch. I did some research and a lot of forums said my watch prob needed to be demagnetized. I figured before I return it or take it to a watch repair and pay to have them fix it, I could try this cheap option first. Figured if it didn’t work I could return this unit and go on to plan b. I was skeptical of this product because it was so inexpensive, but I leaned on the positive reviews and I was pleasantly surprised. My watch now ticks on-time and I will be keeping this product.

WORKS!
this worked just how it is suppose to do. |My brand new diving watch was running fast 5 mis per hour and this fixed it completely.

Buzzed for a second then just stopped. Terrible product do not buy

It is a mystery!
Just received the product today, tried it right always with numerous watches immediately. Conclusion: worked/not worked I couldn’t really tell, I did my best trying it out in different ways. I am still not sure how to use it properly and effectively. I guess I will keep it in case I have a really bad case of magnetism in the future.
