Theses fittings appear to be an excellent idea . They are simple in construction , and with two pairs of fittings for the top sash you can fit one set to close the sash securely and one set to allow the sash to be open enough for air flow without the danger of someone gaining access or someone from inside falling out of the window. Unfortunately there are no instructions of what size of hole should be drilled into the sash wood where the fittings are to be fitted to. This is critical to the correct fitting into the sash . Too small a hole will cause the wood to split and too large a hole will render the fitting to be loose and the unit will fail in operation . As it is a brilliantly simply solution it is a shame that no instruction as to correct drill bit size was included ! It only takes a piece of paper instruction included to resolve the problem !!

these are easy to fit. use a 10mm drill. the quality seems fine.

I bought these to limit the amount the window could be opened rather than to stop it opening. With newly rebuilt sash windows, I didn't want to fit the limiters by trial and error and there are no instructions supplied, nor are there any on the manufacturer's website. I phoned Customer Service at the manufacturer and they were very helpful and sent through a diagram of how to fit and a pic of one fitted. There have been a number of other buyers who complained about the lack of instructions, so I have included the info that was sent to me. It would be so much easier if they were supplied with the units or even on the Amazon listing, hence 4 stars for a 5 star product. " The small threaded ferrule is fitted to the outer frame of the window by drilling a pilot hole and then screwing the ferrule into position. The hole should be drilled as close to the bottom inner sash as possible to keep the window completely shut for security. In addition, you may wish to fit an additional ferrule at approximately 75mm – 100mm above to allow for the window to be opened slightly for ventilation."

Very nice and very solid and well made. Excellent for allowing sashes to be open for air but still secure. Have a practice on a scrap piece of wood first to check if your drill bit size is suitable and you need and Allen key to insert them - I used a hex bit on my battery drill - go slowly!! Recommmed these.

I bought these as the sash window locks wouldn't fit. These are perfect though. Drilled a 9mm hole at approx 20mm deep, easy to install and with one both sides it should deter any burglers. They also supply 4 fittings so I've fitted them as totally shut or able to open the window 100mm

Good quality items. Feel sturdy and well made. Relatively easy to install (depending on the quality of wood in the frame). A useful feature is the dual heights you can set the stops. They allow the window to be locked open or fully locked.

Great product, even better than expected, very high quality can only highly recommend, easy to fit.

I found that I needed a slightly larger drill bit than the 10mm recommended by many and went with an 11.25mm bit. I also found that to get decent purchase screwing the in the inner section into the window frame I needed a long handled 6mm hexagon - and bought this on-line at Amazon - Draper 33991 (see: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01089QHG8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). With the right kit fitting the locks was then easy. I had bought 3 packs of two locks and 4 inserts. In one instance one of the two locking bits had a manufacturing fault - the inside had not been cut/moulded to enable the key to operate rendering it useless. I could have returned it I suppose but as it happens it was extra anyway to my requirements so I accepted it as one of those things.
