Catona Color Pack, 109 Mini Skeins (10 g Each) Mercerized Cotton Assortment

I am a crochet beginner, and Scheepjes Catona has quickly become my favorite yarn to work with. It makes beautiful amigurami. I bought this kit because I needed so many different colors for a granny square pillow project, and boy did it deliver. Every color in the rainbow in one box! Each 10 gm yarn bundle is enough to complete a small granny square with yarn left over ( pictured are 3 1/2” using a 2.75” hook). This is high quality yarn. Allows for very smooth stitching, never frays, and the colors are so vibrant! You may be able to find cheaper yarn but it won’t be a better value considering overall quality and ease of use.

I love these! The colors are all so pretty and the yarn feels nice to work with. It’s wonderful to have so many different colors without having to commit to big, expensive balls of yarn for little projects.

Really like this pack, I've got a bunch of small projects to use these on so they were just what I needed! And I get to sample a bunch of colors too which is super helpful. Saw some bad reviews about the yarns being moldy/dusty after I already purchased this, so I was very happy to see they all look clean and the colors look great too!

I have a large yarn and thread collection for knitting, crochet and embroidery, but Catona is probably one of my least favorites. I purchased the sample box of Catona because of the wide range of colors. Unfortunately the overly shiny sheen of this mercerized cotton yarn makes the colors look garish. The yarn is also somewhat slippery to work. I’ve tried to find the right project for this yarn but the results have been mostly disappointing—the color palette does not blend well in larger areas. Using Catona for accents—surface embroidery and edging has been more successful.

I wanted to crochet an afghan with lots of colors but am just starting with crochet so don’t have a yarn stash. I decided to buy this set instead of purchasing a lot of different colors and having tons of yarn left over (this was also more cost efficient). I played with a lot of ideas and settled on a simple granny square frame with a neutral framework. I love how it came out. I didn’t use a pattern I just played with size of square until I found the size that made the most of each skein (this size made 3-4 of each color). The yarn is soft and easy to work with. I have washed it and I fear it may pull with washing and use because of the synthetic content and way the synthetic is incorporated. But I’m hoping for the best. Some synthetic yarn is very soft when you handled the skein but when worked doesn’t feel as soft. This stays very soft once worked, lovely to cuddle up in. Highly recommend. I bought extra full skeins of the gray to frame with and used the leftover bits of each skein to do a contrast border element with subtle variegation.

Okay, I goofed when ordering this box? This was totally my fault... I thought I was getting the 25G=62.5M skeins of yarns. Imagine my surprise when I saw the 10g=25m skeins in the box. "My hubby was laughing out loud and could not get over how small the yarns were that I purchased." I'm known as LUCY to my husband, and I joke around calling him Ricky... we both loved watching reruns for that old television show. On the brighter side I absolutely love this product, and these mini skeins are great because I use these as a guide for colors when I order the 25G=62.5M skeins. I love being able to see the vibrant colors in advance for my amigurumis. Product was well packaged in the box and arrived in perfect condition, and I have used a few skeins for my amigurumis accessories such as beanies, hats and scarves. I am one happy customer.
