Excellent standard medical gauze for wound dressings
This product is exactly the same as the gauze I've seen in doctor's offices, whatever the brand. The box says exactly what the product is, so there are no surprises. These are ideal for a lot of different wound dressings. They work very well with saline solution (wet dressings), ointment, and nothing (dry covers). They also are perfect for small wound packing. They let a lot of air through, unless you use ointment. They unfold easily for a toe bandage the wraps over the end of the toe. We usually use them with the 3M Medipore tape ( 3M Medipore H Soft Cloth Tape 2864 (Pack of 12) ), which even works on feet. Paper tape like the 3M Micropore ( 3M Micropore Paper Tape - 1 x 10 Yds - Box 12 ) works well as long as it gets changed twice a day and isn't on the bottom of the foot. The Medipore is much easier on the skin, conforms to body contours, and works better on the bottom of the foot. These work a lot better on larger wounds than band-aids, but take a little more skill to apply. The 100 sponges come 2 to a pack, but that's just the way all these producers package them. Two sponges are what you need for most wound dressings anyway. What JollyJimmy says is absolutely correct, but I don't see any problems with the way it's packaged. It's gauze.

Be CAREFUL when you order this. I purchased this thinking I was getting a small box for $6.99. NO. I paid $7.99 including shipping fee...for ONE GAUZE! READ THE FINE PRINT!

Good Gauze just FYI arrives Open Box
Good gauze pads. 100% Cotton. They come in an Open Box which is not ideal for Sterile but each gauze is individually wrapped.

Product as expected, but...
The item ordered, *2" Cotton Woven Gauze Sponge with 8-Ply Size / Quantity: 2" x 2" / Box of 100*, arrived in a bit less than a week after ordering, which is very reasonable for free shipping. However, there are a few aspects that you may want to be aware of, before ordering: - "Box of 100": This refers to 100 *Sponges*. The sponges are packed sterile in paper envelopes, with each envelope containing two sponges. You do not get 100 *envelopes*, you get 100 *sponges*, i.e, 50 envelopes. - "Box" (I): The box is made of very thin cardboard and is built *without lid*. It is the display box type of thing, I would expect to see in a hospital shelf or so, so you can just grab a few sponge envelopes and go. Nothing wrong with that, just so that you know what you get. (I was expecting a lid. So now it goes into a ziplock bag. Oh well...) - "Box" (II): The box (without lid) was shipped "open". There was no shrink wrap around it or something like it. When I took them out of the shipping envelope (see below), I almost spilled all the envelopes all over the floor. So it *appears* the seller has bought these in a big bulk case for a hospital (or something like that) and is now selling off the boxes individually. Not sure what Medline thinks about that, but from my perspective there is nothing wrong with that. Just so you know what you get. - Shipping envelope: I ordered this as a standalone item. Nothing else in the order/shipment. It got shipped and delivered in one of those light gray plastic bags, roughly the size of a 8.5"x11" letter sized piece of paper. With the box made of thin (= flimsy) card board, not having a lid meant that the box had virtually no stability at all. So the box got crushed a bit in this bag during transport. Nothing disastrous, and most importantly, the envelopes with the sponges arrived in good fashion. So that's okay, but frankly, that is not the way I *like* to receive shipments, in particular if the contents of the shipment consists of an open box.
