Colorbok 60229 Thimble-It Finger Pads, 64 Per Package

I sometimes need to sew patches (name, dept.) onto uniforms. After doing a few; I used to end up with needle holes in the ends of my fingers from pushing the needles through the thick patches. It seems the needle would quickly go to the same spot over and over. I decided to try these to eliminate my fingers bleeding on the uniforms. I usually put one on my thumb and my middle finger tips. The adhesive is very strong, but they may be re-positioned (I wouldn't want to do it more than 2-3 times though). I think this next time I will start out without them and the first few times I push the needle through the tough spots I will see exactly where to place them. My only regret is I wish they were just a little more pliable; sometimes they stick straight out over the end of my finger tip; or maybe in an egg shape so I could put the thicker end towards the top of my finger. But if you have bigger fingertips than most thimbles take; these will be a big help.

I LOVE these for knitting. I have a bad habit of pushing the knitting needle with my right finger. Since I knit with lace point knitting needles this can be a problem since my skin has also become thin as I age. Thimble It’s fix this problem perfectly. I have them in Every project bag.

I did not care for this product. That being said, it may be something that would work for you. I found the surface slippery and my needle slipped several times off of it. And i ferl the plastic it is made from is a little too rigid. And it would not conform to the shape of my fingers. Got in the way when stitching because it stuck up. So did not work for me.

I've been hand quilting for over 20 years and don't remember when I wasn't using Thimble-its. I cut them in half and place the cut edge along my fingernail of my underside hand. It sure saves my finger! The adhesion is quite strong and will stay put for hours of sewing. The only problem I've had is if it is especially hot and humid and my finger is sweaty, it won't stay very well, but I don't believe it's the product's fault at that point. I recommend these to all my friends.

I used these years ago when I was constantly sewing. I remember them being firm for protection, but now I’m using them again and they are really stiff. I’m doing cross stitching and embroidery. I’d like to protect my fingers without the bulk of a thimble I cut them in half (across the shorter center), which helps, but the edges stick up and catch on the threads I’m using. Then I tried a single hole punch!! That gives me a little circle which is awfully good. I am careful since the needle can slip with too much pressure, but overall it’s been working. I can punch several dots out of one Thimble-it, punching with the paper backing attached. I put the punched dots in a small container and the backing paper stays attached until I peel it off. Very convenient! The adhesive is strong, I can reuse my dots. Since I use a magnifying light, I put my used dots on the plastic frame edge and they stay until I need them again. Sometimes I forget to take them off and forget I’m wearing them. The smaller circle size is great for me. I have considered looking for a hole punch that’s a little bigger than standard 3-ring binder paper hole size.

Like another reviewer, I use these for knitting. I'm a sock knitter and use tiny needles. Before I found these I had tried bandaids and bandage tape. I was having to change the tape or bandaid frequently because the needles would still poke little holes through and dig into my finger, which was very painful. Most of the time these little pads stick on and stay for the entire day. Sometimes they don't restick but that is very infrequent. I wish I had found these a couple of years ago.

I do a LOT of bead-weaving (every day, actually) and use my needle and thread a few hours each day. And since I always have one finger that gets poked by the back end of the needle quite often, I thought these would be the perfect answer. They are a pliable plastic material, and the needle slides easily OFF of the pad and STILL pokes my finger. I tried using these for a day, but finally said, forget it. Now if they made these same pads with a cloth-type surface (like the Band-Aids you can buy that are the cloth ones), that would most likely work great as a needle would "catch" or stay put against the pad and not slide off of it. Maybe they will do that one day. But for now--as is--it just doesn't work as it's supposed to.

These are great protection worn under a thin or well-used leather thimble. You can peel it off, stick a corner of it to a piece of plastic & reuse it later. I get about 4-5 uses out of each. I'm a free-hand hand-quilter (I don't use a frame) & use the side of my 2nd finger to push the needle through. These are just big enough to fit diagonally across the side of the joint & strong enough to protect me if/when the needle pierces the leather.

These felt a little odd to wear initially, but I soon got used to them. Result - no more sore fingers when using fine knitting needles. As a plus, I found that with care I could re-use them for two or three times. Well worth the money.

Work well to protect fingers. Just a little too large and ridgid to sit well on curved finger tips. Great as a back up, but will return to using leather versions
