On a gas hob, the pan distributes heat well while the removable red silicon sleeve insulates the handle quite effectively. I've avoided trying metal utensils, so can't say whether it is scratch-resistant, but, so far, no scratches to be seen. Very easy to clean - again, I use a non-scratch sponge, but it does the job.
