The first of two volumes on the legendary P.08 Luger (Pistole Parabellum), this illustrated book presents the design, manufacturing, and development of the various models from 1900 through the Weimar Republic period of the 1920s. Adopted by the Swiss in 1901 and then by the German army, the Luger would remain in service until the beginning of World War II and see use in the postwar East Germany, as well as many other nations throughout the world. Details include close-up views of markings, as well as a serial numbers list, and a visual breakdown of the weapon. Accessories such as magazines, ammunition, holsters, and cleaning kits are featured throughout the book, as well as rarely seen combat-related uniform and equipment items. Review: Very nice history of early Lugers, but several illustration captions are inaccurate. - Excellent history of the early Lugers with useful information for distinguishing models and variations. Nice illustrations of Luger models and distinguishing features. However, beware of the illustration captions. In a number of instances the captions incorrectly identify the specific ordering of Lugers being depicted in the illustration or the side of an illustration in which a particular feature is being pointed out (e.g., p. 12, p. 21, p. 34, etc.) Review: Easy and accurate collection of Luger information. - Outstanding book perticulary for new collectors of early Lugers. Great color plate’s and plenty of technical information on the early years of a magnificent pistol.

Great information and pictures, but poorly edited
Having some knowledge in this area, I found the image captions frequently switch "top" with "bottom" and "left" with "right" when referencing the pictured items. Had I not already known which item was which, this would have misinformed me. I also found numerous typos such as the name "Tauscher" (correct) in one paragraph and "Tauser" in very the next, both referring to Hans Tauscher. Enjoy the presentation and pick up details previously unknown to you, but do so with a degree of skepticism.

The Luger P.08 voll 1 & 2
