Works GREAT for inflating Car tires.. Well worth the price. WORKS for years. DC cord reaches all 4 tires.
Works GREAT for me. I like the automatic shut off also. Just dial the pressure you need and the pump works GREAT to inflate the car tires and shuts off also at the pressure you set it at not lower than or higher than. It plugs into the cigarette lighter socket and has a very long cord. Of course you should have the care engine running when using this device. I Use it when the low tire pressure warning comes on. I top off all 4 tires as long as I'm using the pump anyway. This can be done WHERE you need it just pull over the car and park then use the compressor to inflate the tire. This is really made for use from your vehicles DC current, works best that way.. Works GREAT for pumping up tires in a short time then you are back on the road... I see some low reviews here but once I've read them I see people using this product not as intended.. This is not to replace a full standing air compressor from Sears (kind used in roofing and other air tool uses) . This is not designed to be used to blow up kiddy pools. This is for car tires or other tires to be used FROM your vehicle's DC power outlet on the road in case you need air in you tires... Designed to work from the DC outlet (cigarette outlet) while the car engine is running. Has AC cord also but works best from your vehicle while engine running. This is the second one of these I have had and they work GREAT and for YEARS. If used properly... And for the price worth every penny. Beats being stranded by the side of the road with a flat or under inflated tire every time... Buy this and keep in your car trunk or back seat in case of emergency. You might even be able to help a stranded motorist inflate his/her tire. I have done this a few times for friends at the work parking lot and for my Mom at her apartment parking lot.

Great for the garage (110v) and the road (12v)
There's not much I can add to what has already been said, but I would like to confirm: The auto-off feature is great. It is not louder than any comparable units. It doesn't dance around the floor like the last one I owned. I bought it mainly to use in the garage (110v), but I like having the 12v option. Plastic, but pretty solid feeling; I expect it to last awhile. The two-year warranty is a plus. Yes, the 110v power cable is short, but it doesn't matter because unless it was really long, you'd still need a 25' extension to get around a car anyway. So it might as well be short for storage. Pressure gauge dial could have been expanded for more accurate settings, but it works well enough. It took me one tweak to get the first tire spot on, and then it was locked in for the other three. I think the hose/wire storage compartment could have been designed a little better. The 110v cord & air hose connect inside, which makes packing everything (including the 12v cord) a little tight. Note: The air hose coiled tighter with the valve lever closed, but the instructions say "Always leave lever up when not in use". Also, the on/off switch is right behind the handle, so I kept accidentally turning it on when moving it around the car. This unit isn't meant for pumping up low pressure, high volume things like air mattresses. Overall, I like it and would buy it again. I even got one for my Dad. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the storage compartment, dial, and switch design, but all are relatively minor. UPDATE 12/8/09: After using it for nearly 2 years, I increase my rating to 4.5 stars. Functionally it's great, and I'd only subtract a partial star for some minor design flaws (I mainly wish the gauge dial had more detail). Both units are still going strong and definitely would buy again. UPDATE 5/7/13: Both units still work great! Love it even with the minor flaws. Raising rating to 5 stars. UPDATE 5/18/16: The 120v AC stopped working today. Frankly, I expected it to last longer because I don't use it that often. Back to 4 stars - I think I will try another brand next time. It still works using the 12v DV cord though.

A very good tire inflator at a good price
I have AAA membership so I rely on them for car troubles on the road. Therefore my primary reason to buy a car tire inflator is the convenience of putting air on my car tires in my garage so I don't to drive to the nearest gas station on a cold day and spend a dollar for air. Therefore having a car tire inflator that had a standard electrical plug was a critical requirement. Most don't. I chose this Black and Decker model because it met my requirement and I have a generally favorable view of the company. I was a little surprised at the somewhat lower rating in Amazon but I decided to go with it and I am not disappointed. It does the job very well and it is easy to use. I rely on a handheld tire gauge device to get the pressure at exactly where I want it so the accuracy of the gauge on the unit was not that important to me. I would say the gauge is probably within 1 to 2 PSI from the actual value. The unit is somewhat noisy but I am told this is typical of tire inflators. The time to inflate was reasonably fast. It did 4 PSI in about a minute. One very minor complaint is since I will only be using the electrical cord and never the 12 volt car battery cord, I wish the on/off button was located somewhere else and not in the compartment that holds the 12 volt cord. This means I always have to remove the 12 volt cord to get to the on/off button. Like I said, a very minor complaint that I want to mention but does not deserve taking any stars away from my review. On a final note, I found the price on Amazon to be a good deal. Highly recommended.

Badly Designed
I have dropped my rating to one star after using this for awhile, I repeat BAD design. You can't even turn it off and one with one hand because the cigarette lighter adapter cord blocks the switch. It pumps fine, it just is a pain in the tail to use. Black & Decker ASI300 Air Station Inflator - Electric Air Compressor Price: $44.99 This little inflator does the job. It quickly pumped up my wheelbarrow tire. The design could use work though. Even though I purchased it due to it's ability to be run from AC or DC, I'm not happy with their implementation. It works fine but the cigarette lighter adapter gets in the way of the AC power cord. The AC power cord is so short that it necessitates using an extension cord to be able to get close to anything you hope to inflate. Lastly it should have a molded handle on the top. They could have just extruded a little more plastic and given you a handy handle. There are two snap on attachments in a nook on the bottom of the unit. That was smart design, they are handy but not in the way. I guess it looks like something designed by a committee, some good ideas and some not so good. I don't like the plastic inflator valve. That should be metal. As far as performance, it works fine. I had a full blown compressor that I returned due to an immediate (when assembling) crimp in the air hose that prevented it from working correctly. That had a metal inflator valve but the immediate failing of the hose negated the good thinking on the valve. This Black and Decker inflator works well, I am just surprised that a company like B&D would not provide a better design. The price is reasonable ($45 at Amazon) but still for $45 I think including a handle, a longer AC cord and a metal valve would not inflate the price dramatically. 11/8/13 Retrospect:Design really is cumbersome. The on/off switch is occluded by the DC power cord. You can't turn it off and on easily without looking due to that power cord blocking the switch. The gauge is next to useless, it hangs up on the setting needle and thus turn off immediately until you can free it from the setting needle. Kind of pointless to have an automatic off when it is stuck on the setting needle. Overall the pumping part works fine but the cord storage, cord attachment and switch placement as well as the poor gauge makes this far less satisfactory than I originally felt.

So Far So Good 10 minute limit then cool
I have learned to pay attention to customer reviews - this product has some bad ones . First the auto off preset is fabulous and why I took a chance . I figured it would cost $12 to send back or more and since all users said the 12 volt part worked fine after the AC fuse blew I figured paying $36 for one like new out of the warehouse would be my best bet . If my AC fuse blows then for $24 I have a 12 volt only compressor and since it only draws 6 amps I can use my car jump pack . Now my two cents these are made for topping off tires if you fill one that is flat you need to let it cool off . All these compressors say do not run more then 10 minutes . I took all my tires on my van 15 inch from 40 pounds to 50 and did one tire at a time and each one was less then 2 minutes infact close to one and then I let it cool for a couple minutes and moved it to the next . Was done in about 12 minutes and it didn't get hot . If you leave the 12 volt power cord wound up like it comes it is no trouble at all to put back in the machine . It does have a handle it just doesn't look like one it is the tab on the top door . You grip it with 2 fingers there where it sticks out . I love this unit . I leave it next to my electric bike . Guage was spot on . I am very pleased . I have a quality viar pump which I highly recommend but on AC this does great . I imagine 12 volt is slower . But I believe this is much faster then the average $25 cheapo and that auto off feature and back lit gauge isn't on the cheapos . Love that it has nozzles for footballs and air matresses too . I am very pleased . I hated firing up my large compressor or hooking up to a car socket to fill bike , lawn equipment and even the car tires this is so nice especially the low draw . My viar can soak up Update . Well it blew that ac fusible link that one can't replace . Still it is a good value and it works with a 100 ft ext cord . This winter CPO had a sale on a 40v max battery set up that is also a light duty half gallon compressor that can run very light air tools like a staple gun or brad nailer . Your not going to frame with it . I like the blow gun because I have stuff in sheds all the time where I need one . I like to blow out the 4 stroke Merc boat motor I have with one in the water pump inlet too which is never by a outlet . I like to be able to fill my tires at a campground that has no power and it can be a pain starting a generator or taking a chance using a converter off the battery . So I popped on the Greenworks 40 v half gallon air compressor . Very expensive but very good . With a extra 4 amp battery which with the 2 amp that comes with it will run the thing for a hour or more . If $250 doesn't scare you you can plug a tire on the side of the road and fill it with that baby . I bet a few of them . So since that is something I might do , am disabled , and travel I bought one it comes with a 25 foot house , blow gun , Needle valve , plumbers tape for the 1/4 inch air fittings , air chuck and 2 amp battery . I paid $172 for that and $72 for a extra rebuilt 4 amp battery . According to the manual they should run it a hour and 30 minutes but you should cool it every 15 . It ways 13 . 5 pounds . Originally when this came out in 2014 it was $400 for what I received for under $250 from CPO they list on here but I had a coupon for their site direct . I would check that out especially if your considering a Viar over this Black and Decker which with its limitations is a great value . The greenworks does fill up a tire twice as fast this takes about 5-6 minutes to fill top a tire off with say 15 pounds of air . My tire size is 235 75 15 . Good luck 20 amps . At 6 most cars can handle this and I prefer to never use my car but a jump pack can usually handle at least 8 amps draw . This model is recommended to be used on AC in your shop and dc in your car on a trip it is very handy and for the average family the best choice for the $$$ I believe . Hope to keep it cool , never run it too long to heat it up and have years of use from both ac and dc sides . Update at year 3 the AC gave out like they usually do . I will read up it seems like a fuse or fuseable link . It still works on 12 volt . I used it that way last night from my clore jump pack and then charged it up . Don't like having to carry it around though with the jump pack its a old one that weighs 45 pounds and I have a bad spine and neck injury . Otherwise they are great sadly they have problems with the AC in . I really like it in fact I have a 12 votl ac to dc converter from the old days when I used to use my car sterio in the house too on a slide mount so I will put that with it until I figure out if I can just repair it .

Great until the fuse blows!!
Old Review with 5 stars "I wish I would have purchased this years ago. I had just a simple basic one I used for over ten years and it worked well but was a pain always having to stand out there even in the winter to make sure it didn't over pump the tire(s). I searched all over for and AC adapter so I could use it in my garage during the Winter but from what I found these things have too many amps for any of these little DC to AV convertors at least the ones I could find and I wasn't about to put twice as much as what the air pump cost just to connect it to an AC input and I also couldn't eve find any info on how many amps mine had anyway. The first time I used this one I set it to the desired setting and it pumped ALL of my tires up perfectly and shut off exactly when t should have. Yeah it's got a short AC cord but if it was long people would then be complaining about fighting with that long cord when wrapping it up to put away. I'd much rather deal with a short cord myself." January 26,2014 - New review after blown fuse - 5 months later (3 stars): I thought this thing was the best thing since sliced bread. That was until the fuse blew which according to the reviews seems to happen a LOT! So what do they do? They place a tiny fuse "inside" the thing and on the circuit board in a VERY difficult spot to find even if you are brave enough to take this thing all apart. Then, if, and ONLY if, you own and are handy with a drill and also own a dremel tool, a soldering iron, and have a fair understanding of electronics or can find online instructionals, you can then go to Radio Shack, buy a bag of fuses and a fuse holder, 12-18 gauge "stranded" wire, and de-solder the tiny fuse located way inside the little circuit board, drill a hole in the panel beside the on/off switch, find a way to cut the plastic fins sticking out on the other side of the panel where you drilled the hole in order to make it level so that the plastic nut can go on the fuse holder flush and be tightened, solder the thick 12-18 gauge wires to the circuit board without burning any of the other coated wires that are hanging out all over from the circuit board and then to the fuse holder, and put it all back together hoping you didn't loose any parts. After all this 3 starts is quite generous in my opinion. If I would have edited my review the night I had to deal with all of this nonsense I would have given it negative 5 stars if possible. But since I've cooled down I'm giving it 3 stars because this thing really does work great when it works and I like it better than any other ones I've ever owned in the past. I just feel s-o-o-o bad for the rest of the owners when that fuse goes :( as all I have to do now is unscrew the fuse from the fuse holder and plop a new one in. I also read from the comments where I found the modification that after modifying it like this they have yet to blow another fuse. The consumer should NEVER have to do this after paying $50 for a product and only using it around 5-7 times NOR should they have to go through all the trouble of paying to ship the thing to a repair center and wait for who knows how long to get it back while their car tires are going flat in the meanwhile which is my situation. This is not a fluke or freak incident, read the reviews! It's either one of those two options or toss it and buy a new one because once that little 75 cent fuse blows the consumer is just plain "out of luck" unless they're very handy with electronic and with tools or want to go through all the hassle and trouble of boxing it all up and shipping the thing to a service center and waiting to get it back so that they can finally use the thing :(

Great for High PSI Van tires too!
This automatic air pump had three jobs to make me happy: First, it had to inflate my wife's toyota's tires (32 psi). This tool makes it flawless, fast and easy. Also, it needed to inflate our mountain bike tires (50 psi). This device makes it outrageously easy and fast. Finally, it needed to fill the tires to both my vans (80 psi). This apparatus does the trick nicely. For all applications I need it for, the auto turn off makes the chore mindless and accurate. While it is fast for car and bicycle tires, it is a little more time consuming for my van tires which are big. Hence, the auto turn off comes to the rescue again. I just let it do its thing while I do my own thing. Just so you get an idea; bikes that are about 10-20 lbs low it takes about a minute per tire; cars that are 5-10 pounds low, I figure it takes about 2-3 minutes per tire and for van tires that are about 10-20 lbs too low it takes easily 5 minutes per tire and often more than that. Still, it does it, and this little dance I do with the air station sure beats going to the gas station, hoping the pump with the faulty built in gauge is working and taped up properly and sweating to beat the all too short timer that all too often cuts me off either a few pounds before I am finished or a whole tire too soon...phooey! This air station is a little loud, so make sure you don't use it too late at night or too early in the morning. It hums along and soon one gets used to the noise. Hope that helps, Michael

Gets the job done
Compact, well designed overall, sleek and looks good in person. I bought it specifically for having both 120V and 12V ability built in without having to convert the 12V to a 120 myself. The 12V cable is of decent length but the 120V cable is laughably short, its not even a foot from the looks of it. Nothing a 10ft extension from a hardware store cant fix and I had one lying around. Wouldve been nice to have the power button on the top, its in an awkward location behind the storage area where the 12V cable is tucked in, so you have to either lift the device or twist your wrist in an odd angle to reach it, and since you have to power it on and off everytime you want to use it, it can get a bit tiring. Its not as loud as I was expecting, quite manageable, the adapter is plastic which is a real pity, I cannot see this lasting too long, I really wish it was made of metal, but it does seem to be sturdy plastic so lets see how long it lasts. THe display lights up (useful) when powered on, the dial sets the target pressure, but its tough to be accurate with this since there are no 1 step graduations, its 20,30,40 with markers for the 5s inbetween, wish it was more granular. THat said, it does seem quite accurate if you get a good lock on the tire, I went from 36PSI to 45PSI on my SUV and it took about a minute or two per tire, but inspecting the pressure after with a digital gauge the pressure was spot on. Overall for the price it is a huge advantage over having to go to the gas station to check when the tires arent quite cold (unless you have one right next door) and you can take your time and be patient about it and set it to the pressure you want, make changes depending on ride quality etc. I'd recommend this if you want to use it at home, but I think there are better 12V alternatives out there that are built a bit better.

I love it!
I love it! Shuts off when your chosen pressure is reached, so you can set it and forget it. Also, I find it very convenient in that it can be powered either from a wall outlet, or from a 12 volt dc source in your vehicle.

Great product, great price
Excellent product, functions as described, compact and dual voltage. Will pump up a completely flat 19 inch car tire on the car in a matter of a few minutes. Auto shut off when desired pressure is achieved. I would purchase again.

Great little inflator
Great little inflator. Works with both 120V and 12V, very handy for both in the car or in the garage.

Lo peor.
La ubicación del botón de selección de VCA y de inicio, es inoperable. Muy mala ergonómia para traslado, hay que agarrarlo de los cables y llevarlo colgando de neumático en neumático.
