Paul McCartney: Many Years From Now

I came across this book by chance as it was mentioned in something else I was reading about the sixties. As a contemporary of the Beatles I am so much enjoying revisiting those magical times. I too moved to London in the late ‘60s and remember all the clubs and shops Paul speaks of and the amazing feeling of being part of Swinging London while it was happening. This isn’t an ordinary biography - There is a wealth of fascinating detail in the book about the composing of songs and the collaboration between Paul and John, and also the inspiration behind so many well and lesser known classics. Following the Beatles inspirational trip to India and their meeting with the Maharishi, Transcendental Meditation came to London in a big way and I too was initiated in 1971. The experience changed my life for the better and I still have a regular practice over 50 years later. The Beatles feel like old friends from my early teenage years! A highly recommended read.

This book was surprisingly good and had some new information of interest, written by an author that knows what he is doing. The Biography about Paul by Philip Norman is better, but this one comes quite close. Recommended!

Essential reading, of course, as all of the Beatles output is commented upon by Paul, and much detail of his life is revealed, but the book is also somewhat boringly written. It only trancends ground level when the writer, Barry Miles, who refers to himself as 'Miles', talks about himself, their mutual friends and their bookshop related endeavours. Only then, some irony and lightheartednes is introduced. The rest is a fairly serious writing job. And very strange it is, for all the childhood detail we're given, that we only get to hear that McCartney has a sister when we're over halfway into the book.

If you're a Beatles or Macca's fan you MUST read this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the way it was written..

Haven't finished reading this book but so far it's very entertaining. I enjoy reading about famous people. Paul really reveals a lot about himself, growing up, good times, bad times and things you'd be amazed to find out. He doesn't hold back on anything. He puts everything right out there for all to see. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy reading about the lives and times of paul McCartney. I always shop Amazon to get my books and CD's because you can get some really good deals on new and used item that are in excellent condition.
