The wheels last for years of abuse as does the material. We would have liked to buy this in a different color for my wife, but the black one was the cheapest. The size is perfect for a two week trip. Everything you need fits perfectly, I'm surprised that none of the interior lining and pockets have torn. But even more surprising is the fact that the exterior looks almost good as new...just a little dustier when comparing my 3 year old one with my wife's brand new one. There are no rips, tears, scratches. Nothing. The wheels still spin perfectly on my old one. The handle still comes out easily and goes back in without a problem. I anticipate this new one lasting a very long time as well. As far as the weight: Wow, hard to believe that something so light is so sturdy! We've travelled extensively by air and by car (and even train once) and the suitcase still holds up perfectly. I've owned SwissGear as well as Samsonite, and this Atlantic luggage is still the solidest, lightest, longest lasting by far! Moves like a dream, actually better than my older Atlantis carry on, which my husband used on this trip, and it is still in great condition. Strict carry on, long haul, budget airline accepted, plus British Airways, and Alitalia. It was weighed, but the size was always accepted. Just be sure to carry a scale in your personal item, and know each airlines weight restrictions.
