If you've never had Gevalia Columbia, you are missing out. This blend is perfectly made, with a vibrant flavor and still a dark finish. It isn't as acidic as most high-end coffee and won't upset your stomach. I feel it has a bright taste, with a robust body. Sort of like a light breakfast blend but strong enough to power you up. It would qualify as medium, but the fact nish is so clean you might think it is light. I would recommend brewing it heavy, using more scoops than average. It just boosts the flavor and brings out the complexities. If you brew it standard, it can feel a little too light, but it is refreshing when brewed at normal intensity. It won't taste thin if you brew it normally, but for a more interesting and impressive cup, just go with a scoop more.

If you like your coffee smooth and not overly acidic, this might be the best coffee you've ever had. The only coffee that Gavalia has offered that I like better than this is their dis continued Möhring caffe they used to offer. Thankfully this Columbian is still available.My only complaint is that the smaller 20 oz packages come with a finer ground than the 32.9 oz value cans came. It's a little too fine for the metal filter that comes with my Hamilton Beach single cup maker.So many companies roast their mediums too dark. This one is TRULY medium roasted. I am glad they don't roast theirs so dark like the other "medium" roasts that companies market to the USA palet. Most Americans associate burnt coffee beans as better and more caffeinated than true medium roasts. So silly!Please don't ever change this, Gavalia! I have been buying from Gavalia since my original 1983 monthly subscription. I have never drank any coffee that was not provided by them since my first order from them, back then.FYI if your coffee maker uses a paper funnel filter, this coffee is total perfection! Also good for a perculator if you use paper filter added to the basket ⁰⁰and perc it with medium heat.

I am part of a family who will only drink the most expensive and elite brands of coffee...yet even they have had to admit that Gevalia Columbia is a rich, medium roast, that holds its own at a family dinner with the elite coffee drinkers! It is indeed more expensive than store brands, but less expensive than coffee store brands, and is in its own category for good coffee at a fair price. The prices fluctuate all the time and it can be found on many online sites. A good price is $6-7 for a 12 oz bag and 16-17 for a 31 oz can (which stays very fresh, but you will find because of its popularity, bags can go as high as $12 for a 12 oz. We make it using a Melitta pour over single cup with 2 tablespoons of coffee and it is remarkably good! Enjoy!
